Maths Week Proposal
Maths Week Proposal
Title: The title for my maths week idea will be “Variable Voyage”.
The idea behind my proposal is simple... it will be a treasure hunt where the idea is to solve maths
questions (of various difficulties depending on the year group) to lead to different rooms, where there
will be a student who will proceed to ask them a simple or hard
(they will gradually get more difficult) maths riddle or equation from which they will receive a key and
will be given their next clue.
My original idea would’ve consisted of a chest locked by several locks (e.g. locker locks) where we
would give the spare keys to the groups, but on further reflection we may just make our own keys
(e.g. from cardboard and put a design on them) as most locks don’t come with more than 3 spare
keys which would mean there would need to be 3 groups which would be too big.
The treasure hunt will only take up one class if that and will only be done with one class.
This is the equipment for the original idea if you think we can do something with it:
● A small plastic chest
● Several locks (with their respective spare keys)
This activity could be aimed at any year but for the younger years I think it may be a good idea to
have 4th year student go with each group and give a bit of help if they get stuck, we’ll also need the
various keyholders to in position (maybe 5-7 keyholders). These roles will be filled by the group
members and various other students.
The prizes would consist of sweets or something math related for the groups in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
(e.g. Jellies).
I hope you will take this proposal into consideration and I thank for taking the time to read it!
