Plastic Surgery Will Not Make People Beautiful

We all want to look beautiful and to have a well-favored body. That’s why people
continuously search or make things that will help enhance beauty. One of which is plastic
surgery. What really is plastic surgery? According to an article that I’ve read entitled “Plastic
Surgery” reviewed by Rupal Christine Gupta, MD, explains that, “the word "plastic is from the
Greek word plastikos, which means to form or mold” She also added “Plastic surgery is a
special type of surgery that can change a person's appearance and ability to function.”
Because it can alter our appearance, people tend to use it to improve their face or body.
Celebrities always want to be on the spotlight, that’s why they spend a lot of money just to
undergo this surgery. Even ordinary people also pay a lot just to change their looks. But does
this surgery really perfects the beauty of individuals? According to the article again, the reason
why people undergo this surgery is that, they are not satisfied with how they look. They want to
look more attractive to others. If they aren’t satisfied with how they look now, they may also not
be satisfied with how they look after the surgery. That’s why plastic surgery should not be used
as a means to beautify or to change the appearance of a person just for the sake of being more
attractive.
Many of those people who undergo this procedure weren’t satisfied on their first surgery,
so, they decided to have another one, and another one, that leads to their faces being deformed
and at worst unattractive. It also causes depression because they regret having those surgeries.
On the other hand, there were others who have had successful operations. It makes them
beautiful and of course it changes their appearance. The problem with this is that their beauty is
deceptive because it isn’t their real appearance. And sometimes the people who know their
appearance before, may find their new appearance funny. They are being bullied because people
say that they are trying so hard to be beautiful. Their new appearance will not please everyone.
One example of it is Xander Ford of the Philippines. He has a lot of bashers in the past because
of his appearance. That’s why, someone has offered to operate him and make him look like a
celebrity. At first, there were people who got amazed by how his appearance changed but not
long, people began to curse him again not just because of his appearance but because they say
that he seems to be so proud of himself. People again make fun of his appearance, they put his
face on memes, they say negative things about him that makes him so depressed.
I’m not saying that plastic surgery is a bad thing. According to the article again that I’ve
mentioned on the first part of my essay, there is the so called, reconstructive procedure or it is
also a kind of plastic surgery. It says that “Reconstructive procedures correct defects on the face
or body. These include physical birth defects like cleft lips and palates and ear deformities,
traumatic injuries like those from dog bites or burns, or the aftermath of disease treatments like
rebuilding a woman's breast after surgery for breast cancer.” I think these circumstances will
really justify the need of this procedure.
There are also natural ways that we can do that will help us achieve outward beauty that
will not need any surgery. Sometimes having healthier lifestyle will help a lot.
I know we all have our unique beauty. We are all created beautiful by God. Beauty isn’t
always about outside appearance like what almost all people think. Beauty may come through
our good actions or intentions. It may be seen in our talents or capabilities. Most especially, it
can be seen by someone who will not care about your appearance, or the kind of person you are
but he/she just know that you are beautiful without any explanations.
