Directions: Lists down some materials found at home that have the
following physical properties of matter.
Hardness
Brittleness
Flexibility
Elasticity
Ductility
19
DAY 2. Activity 1
Directions: Read and understand the following questions carefully.
Write the letter of the correct answer on the space
given before the number.
_____9. What will you do so that most of the materials that are thrown
away can still be reused?
a. Throw your trash anywhere. c. Proper waste segregation
b. Keep all the material at home. d. none of the above
20
Activity 2.
Directions: In each circle, give and explain briefly the different physical
properties of matter. Then, draw two examples each.

brittleness ductility
biodegradability oxidation
flexibilty
combustibility porosity
conductivity
Activity 2
Write True if the statement is correct and false if the statement is wrong.
_____7. Metals and woods can be used to construct buildings and bridges.
_____8. Glass and porcelain are brittle and can break when dropped.
23
Physical properties can be observed without any changes in its
composition such as hardness, brittleness, flexibility, elasticity,
conductivity, malleability, and ductility.
Lastly, the main idea of this topic is to save our planet earth form
pollution cause by improper disposal of waste and impractical use of
products that slowly destroy our mother earth
Activity 1
Directions: Make a slogan that will help save our planet earth from dying.
24
Activity 2
Directions: Match the term in column A with its description in Column B. Draw a line
to connect them.
• Combustibility
• Biodegradability

This module is about matter. Particularly, it discusses the different
properties of material that can make it useful or harmful to us. This would also
tackle the changes in matter due to oxygen and heat.
Matter also has individual characteristics that can help us identify the
value of a particular material. Some materials can still be reused. Some must
be discarded with extra care for it may cause harm to the environment if not
disposed properly. Understanding the different properties of matter may help
us in minimizing waste production. Practicing 5R’s –reduce, reuse, recycle,
recover and repair-are some techniques that can be used for waste
management.
A. Directions: Write TRUE if the underlined word is correct and FALSE if it is not.
