Salbabida (Reflection)

“Anyone could be a Salbabida to everyone”. This is what Mr. Efren Penaflorida Jr. believes, the
CNN Hero of 2009. Mr. Penaflorida alongside Mr. Kb Manalaysay, his mentor and friend also his
Salbabida, and Kesz Valdez, a youth worker being monitored by Manalaysay and Penaflorida, they
taught street kids and bring them learning materials using their push carts which they called it Kariton
Klasrum.
In the interview, Mr. Penaflorida and Kesz Valdez share some experiences that they had in
teaching street kids and by that they show how compassionate they are for them. I can say that they
had a very exceptional responsibility for them and save them from being ignorant like how they were
saved.
Base on the experiences that they’ve shared, they have the courage to be compassionate and
responsible in teaching the street kids which I wish I could have someday.
Being courageous for me is being confident. You do not fear what other people would say about
you 'cause you know to yourself that what you are doing is right and you can fight for it.
Another thing that I realized in watching this video is to look forward. Kb Manalaysay was right,
you should not look down while moving forward cause you might bump into something, something that
might pull you down. You should look forward while moving forward so you could see the path you are
going through and could see how it gets more beautiful while you get closer to it.
By these, i guess looking forward and being courageous is the key that I need to unlock the door
of success in my personal life.
