You are on page 1of 3

Thank you for requesting our free skills matrix template.

We don't recommend using Excel spreadsheets long term,

but they do help initially to get you up and running and to provide a clearer picture of your employees' skills.

You will find an example matrix and an empty template in the next tabs.
Instructions can be found at the bottom of each matrix.

Are you considering to take your skills matrices to the next level?

    • Managing intricate or larger skills matrices?

    • Looking to grant multiple users access to the same matrix?

    • Concerned about Excel errors?

Instructions:

Step 1. Enter staff names and functions (columns B & C – extend matrix if team is larger)

Step 2. Enter the skills staff already have (row 5 – extend the matrix to add more skills)

Step 3. Enter proficiency levels (0 to 4) for each staff member and for each skill (colors appear automatically, but there should be at least one '0' and one '4' for the colors to be applied correctly)

Step 4. Set required nos. (row 16 – rows 15 and 17 contain formulas based on the requirements for 'min. level 2'. It's also possible to monitor 'min. level 3', etc.

Good luck!
