Bibi Zainab (a.s.

)
1. Bibi Zainab (a.s) was born on the 5th Jamadi-al-Awwal
1431 A.H.
2. Zainab is the daughter of Hazrat Ali (a.s) and Bibi Fatima
Zahra.
3. She had elder brothers Imam Hassan and Hussain (a.s)
4. Like her 2 big brothers, Imam Hassan (a.s) and Imam
Hussain (a.s), she was named by her grandfather
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w) Zainab, meaning “The
adornment of her father”.
5. She had 3 brothers Imam Hassan, Imam Hussain, and
Hazrat Abbas. She had a sister whose name was Umme
Khulthum.
6. She was married to her first cousin Abdullah ibn Jafar.
7. Bibi Zainab had 4 sons Ali, Aun, Muhammad, and Abbas.
She had a daughter named Umme Khulsum.
8. She was known for leading the caravan of Imam Hussain
after his death at the battle of Karbala.
9. In Iran, her birthday is known as nurse day possibly
because she nursed children of imam Hussain among
others to, but also because also for taking care of those
wounded in the battle of Karbala.
10. She died on the 15th of Rajab in 62 hijri and she is buried
in sham.
