The Graduate Student Lead/House Assistant acts a mentor for the Graduate Division summer programs for
120 Aldrich Hall
undergraduate, masters and incoming doctoral students from diverse backgrounds. The position starts

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The Summer Research Program (SRP) is a residential program for undergraduate and master’s students.
This program is intended to prepare students from diverse backgrounds for graduate school.
The GSL/HA position will serve as a live on mentor for the SRP students and will fulfill all the
requirements of a housing supervisor in accordance with the job description attached, and in addition will
serve as a mentor for these students regarding all aspects of life as a graduate student
The GSL position serves in the same capacity as the Graduate Student Lead/ House Assistant, except for
the additional duties of a House Assistant and will not be residential with the program nor compensated for
housing.
Select Position of Interest:
The Competitive Edge (CE) summer research program intends to acclimate participants to UCI prior to the
GSL/HA start of their graduate programs in the fall.

involved may be found on the attached job description. This is a contract position. All candidates will be
required to attend the https://grad.uci.edu/academics/mentoring.php. The final candidate is subject to
background check. All candidates must be full time UCI Doctoral or MFA Students who are eligible for
university employment.

14. Keep the Arroyo Vista Housing Program Assistant and Scheduling and Conference Services informed of all problems and concerns in the
housing unit.
15. Make sure that the house is clean and orderly at all times.
16. Report any maintenance issues and damages to the Arroyo Vista Program Assistant or contact Arroyo Vista office at 949-824-3900.
17. Participate in a walk through of the house with the program sponsor and an Arroyo Vista staff member before the group arrives and after they
leave to ensure the house is in proper condition.
18. Please keep a detailed list on any damages that occur and who is responsible and report this information to the Arroyo Vista Staff during the
house walk through. Be available at all times, especially in the evenings and on weekends. Clear with the Summer Program Coordinator in
advance any requests for significant time (3 days or more) away from the house.

20. Be mindful of being a part of the Arroyo Vista community and are respectful of others when participating in activities both inside and outside of
the house.
21. Be a positive role model for residents. Uphold the respect and integrity of all races, ethnicity, religions, sexual orientation, gender, cultures and
all other differences within the community.
22. Know, abide by and enforce all housing and contract policies as outlined in the Undergraduate Housing Handbook and Arroyo Vista Summer
Housing Contract. Make residents aware of the policies and its rationale and consistently respond to incidents of inappropriate behavior.
23. Maintain a professional working relationship with Arroyo Vista staff members. Work to resolve any and all concerns in a proactive manner.
