METHODOLOGY

This paper contains materials and methods that are used to come up this study.

The following are the instrument and procedures to apply the researcher in obtaining the

data.

Research Design

The study used descriptive research design. It focuses on current issues or

problems through a process of data collection that enables them to describe the

situation. This design leads to the possibility to observe and understand the situation of

the respondents.

Sampling Area

The study was conducted to the Chayote farmers at Zone 5B of Barangay Mat-i,

Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

Barangay Mat-i is one of the 24 Barangays of Claveria, Misamis Oriental. This

barangay is also called as “Little Baguio” because of its cold area and pictures overview.

Barangay Mat-i has unique landforms and water forms that’s why it is one of the most

visited barangay in the municipality of Claveria, especially the Mt. Sumagaya.

It is also known for the abundance of different crops and known for having a lot of

chayote producers because of its perfect area for agriculture. Most farms are planted

with chayote of good quality to market.

Subject of the study

The target of this research are residents in Barangay Mat-i who have chayote

farms. There were 20 respondents who were interviewed.

Data Instrument Used

To ensure the exclusiveness and the essence of the data that were collected

during the interview. The researchers used cellular phones for recording of the

information needed and for the accuracy of the information. Digital camera and bond

paper were also being used in gathering the data.

Data Collection Method

In the data gathering, the following were followed:

First step: The researcher disseminated survey/questionnaire to the 20

respondents from Zone 5B of barangay Mat-i, Claveria, Misamis Oriental in non-

randomized sampling.

Second step: The researcher conducted and collected the survey/questionnaire

of the 20 respondents from Zone 5B of barangay Mat-i, Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

Third step: The researcher recorded and analyzed the data that were gathered

from the respondents.
