Artificial Intelligence

Technology is something that updates day by day. The advancements that mankind has

made in just the last decade, is amazing. Artificial Intelligence is one of the hot topics that has

come up in the past years. Artificial intelligence isn’t very old however. It is very recent and is

most likely the future of technology. Artificial intelligence can branch from machine learning, to

virtual assistants, to even self-driving cars! It basically has many inventions and branches within

itself which help it relate to technology.

How does artificial intelligence relate to technology? Not just it relates to technology, but

it literally is modern day technology. Modern technology isn’t what artificial intelligence is, but

they still incorporate it within themselves. Some inventions also include the Amazon Echo, and

the Google Home, which are virtual assistants. Other inventions vastly vary on top of that. Tesla,

the leading electric car company today, has artificial intelligence in their self-driving. The iPhone

11, almost two months old, has its facial recognition which makes it a very likable product.

Anyways, the sport tennis, one of the most famous sports worldwide also relates to

artificial intelligence. The US Open, one of the biggest tennis tournaments in the whole world,

which takes place in August, incorporated Artificial Intelligence in the tournament this year.

IBM Watson, a piece of artificial intelligence developed by IBM helps redefine fan experience.

For example, powered by Watson’s conversational AI capabilities, the new “Ask the US Open”

chat interface in the US Open app serves as the tournament’s virtual concierge, guiding patrons

through the entirety of the fan experience [CITATION Suz19 \l 1033 ]. The use of IBM

Watson’s capabilities helps redefine the fan experience in such a manner, that the convenience

and easy access to lots of information make the experience of this tournament more worthwhile.1

Watson’s visual recognition capabilities identify the celebratory gestures of a player – a fist

pump or an arm raised overhead in celebration. Watson can even detect emotion in a player’s

face, and it assigns each reaction a score [CITATION Suzor \y \t \l 1033 ]. The smart

capabilities make the analysis humans have to do, unnecessary.

Finally, technology relates to artificial intelligence, because this idea of making life

simpler through artificial intelligence, is incorporated through things like phones, robots, smart

speakers, and many new and latest technologies. The invention of this artificially intelligent app

for the US Open was a great invention in making many fans much happier and pleased with

viewing this tennis tournament. In my opinion artificial intelligence is a very great idea, and the

study of it is very important in our future. Some people obviously find this concerning, the

thought of having a world completely dependent on technology, but it will really affect the

future, and may abolish all jobs one day. I agree that the study of artificial intelligence should

continue, starting with these small-scale projects. Projects like this one, where IBM ultimately

developed an invention to make tracking at the US Open easier will be one for the books.
