Title or Topic of Module/Lesson: Integrating LOOM and EdPuzzle with Google Classroom to
create a “flipped classroom” model.
Target Audience: This website is being designed to align with my MIST cohort’s final project in
IST 626. For that project our primary audience is a high school teacher, Ms. Wessels, who is
interested in redesigning her AP Government course. In a more general sense, she is
interested in exploring some new strategies for reading engagement (see Leticia Molina’s
IST541 final website proposal) and adding a “flipped classroom” element to her course design,
so that she may focus in-class time on critical thinking tasks. Ms. Wessels already uses Google
Classroom to organize assignments and communicate with her students.
A secondary audience is Ms. Wessel’s students, who all use Chromebooks in the classroom.
Loom was built specifically for Chrome, so in the future Ms. Wessels may choose to have her
students create their own screencast videos as part of an assignment.
Finally, the information contained within the website could be used by any teacher who is
interested in trying out free multimedia resources to deliver out-of-classroom content to their
students.
Technical: Access to an internet browser and basic knowledge of how to navigate a website
(e.g. back, forward, exit, etc.). Sound is required for reviewing video content. Specific user
credentials are not required to interact with the website.
Conditions of Instruction: Learners access content via personal laptop and desktop
computers or tablet-style devices. There will be interactive components for the learner to
manipulate within the website’s pages.
Learning Objectives:
Learner will download the Loom extension and demonstrate the ability to create, edit and
share a screencast of her chosen content.
Learner will sign up for an EdPuzzle account and demonstrate the ability to insert
comments and quiz questions within existing video content.
Learner will integrate Loom screencast and EdPuzzle lessons with her class contacts
and assignments in her Google Classroom account.
Learner and designer will practice using the comments window next to her Loom video
to evaluate the effectiveness of this function to foster group communication and social
interaction around chosen content.
Assessment options (not in rubric): Post assessments about website functionality using
Google Forms will gather feedback from learners on content knowledge and may include
multiple choice, short/long text responses and reaction surveys.
