There was a little chick named Chicky.

Chicky and Mother Hen lived in the farm.
They lived together with other animals in
the farm. Mother Hen loved Chicky so
much. She took good care of Chicky. She
made sure he was always safe.

It was a bright sunny day. Mother Hen

prepared a delicious snack. Chicky saw his
mother in the kitchen. “What are you
doing, Mother?” asked Chicky. “I am
preparing snacks for our friends. We are
going to visit them in the barn,” answered

Chicky helped his mother prepare their

snacks. “May I bring some food for my
friends, Mother?” asked Chicky. “Yes, you
may my dear,” Mother Hen answered. He
got some pechay for Billy Goat, grass for
Heidi Horse and carrots for Rosy Rabbit.

Chicky was very excited. It was a very

long time since Mother Hen took him out
for a walk. At last, he could be able to see
his friends. He missed his friends so
much. Chicky and Mother Hen prepared
and headed out to the barn.

Chicky and Mother Hen arrived safely

at the barn. Chicky was very happy when
he met his friends. They ate and shared
stories about their experiences in the farm.
Chicky was so curious. He had never gone
out alone in the field.

One day, Chicky told his mother that he

wanted to go to the field. “May I go out
today, Mother?” asked Chicky. “No, you are
still very young. Nobody can help you when
you are in danger. There are big animals in
the open who want to eat you,” Mother Hen
replied.

Chicky felt very sad. He envied his

friends. Their parents allowed them to go
out alone. He wanted to go out in
the farm alone too. He wanted to have
his own experiences and share these to his
friends.

Chicky was so eager to go out. Even if

Mother Hen did not allow him, still he
went out to the field alone. Chicky was
very happy. He enjoyed looking at the
colorful flowers and the little butterflies as
he passed by.

Meanwhile, a big hungry cat was

watching him since then. He did not notice
that the big hungry cat was following him
quietly from the start. It followed him
wherever he went waiting for the right time
to grab him.

Chicky continued walking along the

creek near the field. He saw many things.
There were tall trees, colorful fishes and
chirping birds. He thought of his friends and
said to himself, “Oh, I will tell my friends
all the beautiful things that I have seen
today.”

Chicky reached the creek and looked

down at his reflection in the clear water.
To his surprise, he saw another reflection!
He was looking directly at an image of
a big cat. It was standing right behind
him. Chicky was so afraid.

The big cat jumped onto him. Chicky

was afraid so he ran as fast as he
could. The cat ran after him. The cat
wanted to eat Chicky. He was very hungry
since he never eaten the whole day.
Chicky tried his best to save his life.

Chicky cried for help but no one heard

him. He looked everywhere to ask for help
but nobody was around. He remembered
what her mother said not to be alone
in the farm. Good that he was near
their house. He rushed inside and hid
behind his mother, trembling with fear.

Mother Hen immediately hugged

Chicky tightly. “I’m sorry Mother, I will
not disobey you again,” he cried. “I’m glad
that you have learned a lesson. I’m glad
as well that you are safe,” Mother Hen
replied. Chicky realized that his mother was
right. It is not safe for him to go out
alone.

Chicky always stayed with her mother

from then on. Mother Hen was so happy
for him. She always took out Chicky
along with her whenever she went out.
From that time on, he did not go
out alone in the field ever again.
