Note: For any geometry problems whose statement begins with an asterisk (∗), the first page of
the solution must be a large, in-scale, clearly labeled diagram. Failure to meet this requirement
will result in an automatic 1-point deduction.

JJ4. Let n students take an exam, for a positive integer n ≥ 3. Each problem is solved by at
least 3 students. For any pair of problems solved by the same number of students, there
are no 3 distinct students who each solved both problems. Show that there are strictly
3 n

less than 2 3 problems on the exam.

JJ5. Let R denote the set of all real numbers. Find all functions f : R → R such that

f (xf (y) + yf (x)) + x2 + y 2 = (f (x + y))2

holds true for all real numbers x and y.

JJ6. (∗) Let ABC be a right scalene triangle with right angle at A. The incircle ω of 4ABC
is tangent to sides BC, CA, and AB at points A1 , B1 , and C1 , respectively. Let A1 and
D be the intersections of line AA1 and ω, and let E and F be the reflections of A1 over
points B1 and C1 , respectively. Let K be the foot of the perpendicular from E to A1 F ,
and let L be the foot of the perpendicular from F to A1 E. Prove that lines B1 C1 , KL,
and the line through D perpendicular to AA1 are concurrent.

Time: 3 hours.
Each problem is worth 7 points.
