What is Linear Programing?

Linear programming is an optimization technique for a system of linear constraints and a linear objective
function. An objective function defines the quantity to be optimized, and the goal of linear programming is to
find the values of the variables that maximize or minimize the objective function.

Linear programming provides a method to optimize operations within certain constraints. It is used to make
processes more efficient and cost-effective. Some areas of application for linear programming include
engineering, transportation, manufacturing, telecommunications, food and agriculture, and energy.

What is Feasible region?

What is the interpretation of feasible region?

Then Open MS Excel on your PC

As given that

X Y ≥ 0
0.5000 0.2500 ≥ 30
1.0000 5.0000 ≥ 250
0.2500 0.5000 ≤ 50

We have to find the feasible region for the set of constraints

By solving the above equation, we get

Intercepts X Y
0 120
60 0
0 50
250 0
0 100
200 0

Then select the first two rows, and select “INSERT” , then select “SCATTERED” then choose to draw
LINE one,

And so-on draw the lines for the equation. You will get three lines accordingly given co-ordinates .

B) Solve the problem using graphical linear programing. Use simultaneous equations to determine
the optimal values of the decision variables.

Maximize Z = 4x1 + 3x2

Subject to

Material 6x1 + 4x2 ≤ 48 lb

Labor 4x1 + 8x2 ≤ 80 hr

X, Y ≥ 0
