Situation Update, Uttarakhand: Today

WHO has declared the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) epidemic as Public Health
Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) under IHR (International Health Regulation). In
this context, Uttarakhand Government has strengthened the surveillance and control measures
against the disease. Isolation and Institutional Quarantine facilities are operational in all
districts.

Public Health Action Taken

• One More Testing Lab for COVID-19 was started at Shri. Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali
Government Medical College, Srinagar (Pauri Garhwal). This is the fourth public sector testing
lab for COVID-19 in Uttarakhand.
• Government has introduced a new initiative for tele-medicine service through eSanjeevani
OPD (online Portal for tele-consultation).
NOTE
The Patient tested Positive at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi on 30.04.2020 has been tested
Negative twice. (as per AIIMS Lab Reports dated 04.05.2020 and 05.05.2020)
APPEAL
Department of Health and Family Welfare, Uttarakhand appeals to all citizens of the state to
follow the advisory for lockdown. All persons who have been advised quarantine (Contacts of
Positive cases and people who have come from outside the state) have to observe mandatory
home quarantine as instructed by authorities. They may stay in separate room and not venture
outside their house.
Preventive measures
1. All citizens must wear masks whenever venturing outside of their homes.

2. Facility quarantine of all asymptomatic travelers for next 28 days after returning from
outside Uttarakhand.

3. Travelers’ and their family members must ensure strict respiratory and hand hygiene.
