Lollygag - spending time aimlessly, idle


The teacher’s face turned red with fury as the students shrugged and mumbled about
forgetting their homework again. “Fine! Just keep lollygagging, and let’s see if you can
graduate!” He yelled.

Profile - outline of something, short article


She squinted into the shadows, trying to make out the person’s profile, but she couldn’t
make out a single detail.

Receptacle - object used to contain something


The receptacle was big, able to hold almost a fourth of his collection of rare books, so he
bought it.

Baster - a sewer who fastens a garment with long loose stitches


With careful procision, the baster started sowing, slowly making each stitch long and
even.

High-strung - easily nervous and upset, jumpy


After they had exited the haunted house, they were high-strung, jumping and yelping at
every little shadow and noise

Webmaster - Person who maintains a particular website


When the webmaster went on his computer to update his site, he smiled when he saw
almost a thousand people using it.

Grandiose - impressive or magnificent in appearance or style, especially pretentiously so


The court’s grandiose facade faded a little when the commoner presented the evidence
showing that the royal family was wasting precious resources.

Wallop - strike or hit


She yelped in [pain when her friend walloped her on the head after she had missed the
ball. “How did you miss that!” Her friend shrieked.

Loogie - phlegm
“If you don’t come with me right now, I will spit this loogie at you,” she warned, pursing
her lips in an attempt to find moisture.
