Analyze key factors to governing the breakdown in solid liquids and gaseous

dielectrics? Is breakdown occurring in composite solid di-electrics same as

breakdown in any two solids? Discuss why it is same or different?
Breakdown of gaseous dielectric is governed by rapid growth of current due
to emission of electron from the cathode, ionization of gas particles and fast
development of avalanche process. So by controlling these factors we can
control the breakdown in gases And also we studied that when break down
occurs in gases liquids and solid, the gases gain their strength very fast, liquid
regain it partially and solid dielectric lose their strength completely.
The breakdown in solids depends upon the magnitude of applied voltage,
and also on the time for which voltage is applied. So, by controlling these two
factors we can control the breakdown in solid dielectrics. Following factor
must be considered to control the breakdown in solid dielectric mechanical
strength, gaseous inclusion, chemical deterioration and di-electric loss.
In liquids impurities is the main reason of breakdown so break down in
liquids and solids can be controlled by reducing impurities from liquid. Di-
electric strength viscosity, stability, flashpoint and gas constant must be
considered to control the breakdown in liquid di-electrics. These factors
must be considered while selecting the liquid di-electrics. Dielectric strength
is another important parameter to govern the breakdown in liquid.
Breakdown of liquid also depend upon gap length.
As we know that for good dielectric constant of dielectric should match. So, for any
two solids may be their constants are not matching. Also, we know that simplest
form of composite dielectric consists of two layers of same materials. In few cases
behavior of composite dielectric can be predicted from the behavior of
components but in most cases the system as whole to be considered. So, from
these statements we can take the result breakdown occurring in composite solid
dielectric is different from breakdown in nay two solids.
