LIBRARY AND INFORMATION CENTRE

To support the Educational and Research objectives of the institute,


JSSATEN was established the Library in the year 1998. It provides
information in the field of Basic Science, Engineering, Humanities,
Management and related fields. The library aims to develop a
comprehensive collection of books, e-books, journals and E-journals
useful for the faculty, students and research community. The
library and Information Centre is fully automated and spread over
1260 sq.m., in air conditioned space. It has a seating capacity of
over 350 students in the Reference section. The Library has good
collection of books, journals, reports and dissertation. Library is
subscribing 137 printed journals. In addition, it has ten online full
text databases of IEEE, ASME, ASCE, Science Direct, Springer,
EBSCO, Emerald, Taylor & Francis Online, Taylor & Francis
EBooks & McGraw Hill subscribed by the library under Dr. APJ
AKTU E-consortium, which contains more than 3604 International
E-journals and 9270 E-Books, more than 1000+company profiles
and business publication are provided for the benefit of the faculty
and research community. E-resources can be accessed within the
campus or outside campus on wire and wireless medium.

dissemination of required information by adoption of state-of-the-
art technology thereby creating a welcoming and comfortable
physical environment for the user.

service environment for dissemination of required knowledge to our

ASCE
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is recognized
globally for their significant contribution and dedication to the
advancement of science and education in the civil engineering
profession. The ASCE publishes 35 journals cover a comprehensive
range of the civil engineering profession. ASCE journals are highly
cited and are most relevant to the civil engineers for exchanging
technical and professional knowledge. Information published in the
journals of ASCE forms archival records not only of the technical
advances of the ASCE but of the civil engineering profession as a
whole.

ASME
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a
nonprofit educational and technical organization serving a
worldwide community of mechanical engineers. The ASME conducts
one of the world's largest technical publishing operations. The
ASME promote and enhance the technical competency and
professional well-being through quality programs and activities in
mechanical engineering, better enable its practitioners to contribute
to the well-being of humankind through its publications that
include 31 journals.

IEEE
It provides access to the IEEE core collection of electronics, and
computer science engineering. Over 202 IEEE online society-
sponsored journals, transactions and magazines are included in
this package with back file access to 2000. These are most highly
cited journals in the field concentrating on theoretical and
experimental papers, practical applications in research, design and
specification.

Science Direct
Science Direct is the web-based interface to the full-text database of
Elsevier Science journals and Academic Press (Ideal), one of the
world's largest providers of scientific, technical and medical (STM)
literature. The Science Direct offers a rich electronic environment
for research journals, bibliographic databases and reference works.

Springer
The Springer Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science
Engineering Collection offer 452 titles in Computer Science and
Electrical Engineering. The authors of these publications come from
all over the world and are highly distinguished in their fields. All
journals are peer-reviewed and edited by internationally reputed
scientist, researchers and academics from world-leading
institutions and corporations. Most of the journals are indexed by
major abstracting services.

Emerald
Emerald Publishing Limited is a scholarly publisher of
academic journals and books in the fields of management,
business, education, library studies, health care, and engineering.
Emerald acquired a programme of Management and Social Science
book serials, series and monographs from Elsevier. Boasting a
portfolio of 309 journals, Emerald Insight is home to more than
255,000 current and Back files articles across the fields of
business, management, economics, engineering, computing,
technology and social sciences.

Taylor & Francis Online:


Taylor & Francis publishes quality peer-reviewed journals under the
Rutledge and Taylor & Francis imprints. Journal content is hosted
on Taylor & Francis Online anywhere can browse by subject, drill
down to journal level to find the aims. It is fully open access
journals, across all areas of academia from engineering,
mathematics and the life sciences to the humanities and the social
sciences.

Taylor & Francis publishes books for all levels of academic study
and professional development, across a wide range of subjects and

McGraw Hill India Express:


McGraw Hill India Express is provides on online learning and
multimedia tools to growth of students, teachers and professionals.
It’s providing leading Higher Education publisher of educational
content for the Medical, Business, Economics, Engineering,
Computer Science, Humanities and Social Sciences. McGraw Hill is
currently providing 1500+ articles in higher education and digital
formats.
National Digital Library (NDL)
MHRD under its NMEICT has initiated the National Digital Library
(NDL) pilot project to develop a framework of virtual repository of
learning resources with a single-window search facility. Filtered and
federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so
that learners can find out the right resource with least effort and in
minimum time.

It is being arranged to provide support for all academic levels


including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all
popular form of access devices and physically challenged learners,
to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all
over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked
exploration from multiple sources.

NPTEL
It was initiated by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay,
Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati and Roorkee) along
with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2003. NPTEL is a
curriculum building exercise and is directed towards providing
learning materials in Science and Engineering. NPTEL has been
offering self-study courses across engineering, humanities and
science streams for more than a decade. These are available

SHODHGANGA:
Theses and dissertations are known to be the rich and unique
source of information, often the only source of research work that
does not find its way into various publication channels. Theses and
dissertations remain an un-tapped and under-utilized asset, leading
to unnecessary duplication and repetition that, in effect, is the anti-
theses of research and wastage of huge resources, both human and
financial. Shodhganga provides a platform for research students to
deposit their research article & it’s maintained in digital
repositories, researchers can access all archiving article or theses to
help in raising the quality and standard of research. URL to access:

SWAYAM:
Swayam is a programme of the free online education courses in
areas of engineering education, social science, energy, management,
basic sciences. It’s provides online interactive learning platform,
video lectures, reading material and assignments/quizzes. Online
discussion forum for clearing the doubts. Steps have been taken to
enrich the learning experience by using audio-video and multi-
media and state of the art pedagogy / technology.

LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS

 All the students and staff members entering the Library shall
keep their bags and other personal belongings at the entrance.
Visitors will first sign in the Register at the checkpoint, before
being allowed to approach Circulation Counter.

 Only notebooks and the Library books will be allowed inside.


All the readers are advised not to leave their valuables at the
Check Point. Library is not responsible for any loss of personal
belongings. All files, books and notebooks must be presented
to the security guard at the checkpoint for inspection while
leaving the Library. Library does not permit any exception in
the observance of this rule.

 I Card should be compulsory for entering into the library.

 Books Borrowed should be protected from RAIN, DUST,


INSECT, etc.

 Books removed from the shelves, if not required further,


should be kept on the book trolley/ table nearest to them.
Please do not try to shelve them yourself. Please remember
that a book misplaced is a book lost.

 Newspaper should be folded properly after reading and kept


back in the designated place.

 Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage


library resources in any way. If anyone is found doing so,
he/her will be charged the full replacement cost of the
resource.

 All students are allowed to borrow 10 books at a time from the


General Shelf for a period of 15 days and 6 from book bank
book for a period of 1 semester.

 The book must be returned on or before the due date.

 Borrowers, faculty, staff going on long leaves like deputation,


study leave will have to return all borrowed material before
leaving college.
 All the students who want to return the books issued on their
names are advised to wait until the books are shown as
cancelled against their names.

 There will be a fine of Rs.1/- (one rupee per day) in the first
week and Rs.6/- per day thereafter.

 Students are advised not to issue Books to others on their


names. Reference Documents like Dictionary, Encyclopedia,
Year Books, Journals (Loose & Bound), Theses, Project
Reports, Census, Handbooks will not be issued out.

 Borrower must make good the loss by replacing library


material with same or latest edition. IN case of non-availability
of material, then the double the cost of the book/material will
be recovered by the borrower.

 Photocopying is available at the Library Counter the Xeroxing


charge per exposure is 50.00 paisa.

 Conversation and discussion disturbs library ambience.


Therefore, all are requested to maintain dignified silence. If
discussion is necessary, the common room should be utilized
for the same.

 Beverages and Eatables are not allowed inside the library.

 All users are requested to keep their mobiles in silent mode.

 No photograph of the Library shall be taken without the prior


permission of the Librarian.

 The Library reserves the right to call back any issued


book/item at any time.

 Demand and suggestion slips are available at the circulation


desk for your use.
SERVICES
INTER LIBRARY LOAN AND DOCUMENT DELIVERY SERVICE

DELNET has been established with the prime objective of promoting


resource sharing among the libraries through the development of a
network of libraries. It aims to collect, store, and disseminate
information besides offering computerized services to users, to
coordinate efforts for suitable collection development and also to
reduce unnecessary duplication wherever possible.

The institute has registered itself on DELNET that provides inter-


library loan and document delivery services.
DELNET is offering inter-Library loan & Document Delivery Services
to its member libraries. ILL requests can be registered online for
books. For the resources not available in the union catalogues and
journal articles, requests can be sent to DELNET through E-mail.

REPROGRAPHIC SERVICES:

The Reprographic Services are extended through an external outfit


which operates within Central Library premises for easy access by
users. The services include photocopying, scanning, print outs and
spiral binding.

 On-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC):

It is an online catalogue of Library holdings (Books, e-books,


Journals, Magazines and other resources). Users not only can
search their resources through OPAC but also can availability of
books via http://library.jssaten.ac.in/

 Book borrowing facility:

Book lending facility is available to all the Students, Research


Scholars, Staff and Faculty members of the University. The
members need to register themselves with the library formally by
filling up the membership registration form, available at the
circulation desk. The Library will issue a RFID enabled ID card to
all the users to use the library facilities. Users must adhere to
library rules and guidelines. These rules are framed to facilitate
and promote, rather than restraint, the use of Library resources
and services.
