The behavior of forests clearing in a tremendous scale is often used to describe

deforestation. Forests are home to the majority of flora and fauna as it covers as much as
one third of the Earth’s surface around the world. It also plays a vital role as a global climate
regulator due to its act as carbon sinks. Through the process of photosynthesis, carbon
dioxide is stored by the trees. However, an approximation of 15% of gas emissions are
contributed by deforestation. Some scientists predict that all tropical rainforests will be
gone by 2150 (Mongillo and Zierdt-Warshaw, 2000). Thus, several South American nations
have declared the deforestation in their countries is a national emergency (USA Today,
2008; Vidal,2005). The results of deforestation are crucial to the future of environment, so it
is important to be clear regarding the causes and impacts of deforestation.
