LESSON 3
THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS
According to the Bible all men have sinned (Romans 3:10, 23), because man is a sinner Satan
exercises authority over man’s lives (John 8:34).
Satan is an evil and a wicked master, he ruins and destroys the lives of men (John 10:10).
Romans 3:23 (NKJV) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

John 8:34 (NKJV) Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a

slave of sin.
John 10:10 (NKJV) The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have

come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
A. God created man for His pleasure God did not create us to live in sin and slavery to Satan. He did
not create us to live in futility. He created us for His pleasure (Revelation 4:11).
B. God created man for His purpose Our life is not our own, but His and He has the right to
determine the purpose of our living (Ephesians 2:10).
Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV) For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,

C. God created man to spend eternity with Him Heaven is God’s destiny for us. Let us live for
Him and spend eternity with Him (Psalm 23:6).
Forever.

D. God paid for man on the Cross God sent His Son Jesus, to die on the cross and rose again
from the dead to atone (pay) for our sins. Because He paid for us with His life, we are now His
possessions. We belong to Jesus. He has the right and authority to rule over us (2 Cor.5:15).
Jesus has the legal right to be Owner and Lord of our lives because we belonged to Him twice.

2 Corinthians 5:15 (NKJV) 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no
longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
2. THE ONLY WAY TO BE FREE FROM SATAN AND SIN IS TO MAKE JESUS OUR
LORD
The Bible says that Jesus has become our redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30). This means that by
His death, the price of our salvation had been fully paid. The chains of sin in us have been
broken and we were freed from Satan’s grip. By making Jesus Lord of our lives, we can break
free from the slavery of Satan and live a life pleasing to God. To be completely free from
Satan’s grip, we have to let Jesus rule every area of our lives.
(Illustration: Jesus must be the Lord of every area of our lives not just a guest in our house
(life) but the owner/king of every room - all areas) “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.
1 Corinthians 1:30 (NKJV) But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from

Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery (Gal.5:1).”
Submit to His Lordship!
Galatians 5:1 (NKJV) Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do
