Radiology department
For the purpose of this standard the hospitals have been divided into: The term "radiology department" usually refers to the department in
the following five categories: which diagnostic imaging is provided. It is distinct from that in which
1. Category A 25 to 50 Beds radiotherapy and radiation oncology are carried out. The latter services
2. Category B 51 to 100 Beds are not provided in district hospitals of 50-100 beds, as the radiation
3. Category C 101 to 300 Beds treatment of malignant disease requires highly trained physicists and
4. Category D 301 to 500 Beds physicians who are specialized in radiotherapy and very complex, costly
5. Category E 501 to 750 Beds equipment. This service should be available only in regional hospitals.
