The Cultural Revolution

The cultural revolution in chinese is called shi nian haojie which translates to: ten
Years of holocaust it is a scar in china's history over Mao’s insane plan to stay in
Power. Many things could have led Mao in to doing this it could've been him discovering
That he had parkinson's disease or maybe it was his last desperate attempt to shape China
Exactly the way he wanted it to be. Mao began the cultural revolution by forming a

On the “Four Olds” (old ideas,customs and culture) The Red Guard was established to protect
Mao’s ideas which were made up of soldiers high school/university students it was the Hitler
Youth of China. In fact some slogans of the Red Guard was “Red terror forever” which was not
Said in vain anyone who offended them or worst of all Mao was either beaten or killed. During the
Cultural Revolution the police allowed the Red Guard to do what they please they could raid
Houses to burn and destroy outlawed books and music by western devils like Beethoven,Mozart,
Brahams, and schubert or jazz anything of western or american influence was to be destroyed.
They Destroyed ancient artifacts and priceless thousand year old chinese writings over 2.1 million
of them were destroyed,burned, or hauled of to the nearest dump some even committed suicide
When they lost their precious art scrolls to the red guard.People were beaten to death in hordes
And buildings were destroyed. The most affected people in China by the Red Guard were the
Highly educated Mao hated them so they were dragged from work or their homes and forced to
Wear dunce caps some were just tortured and killed. During this time Mao was looked upon by
The chinese people as a God. so much blood and death occurred that even Mao noticed so on
July 1968 he called the red guard leaders to his house disbanded them but the damage was done
Thousand of priceless artifacts were destroyed and thousands of more lives lost.
