Title:three days in redwood national and state parks- Rebecca Latson

Rebecca Latsons article on California's national parks is perfect for aspiring visitors of the
redwood parks. Since I fall directly into this category I found it extremely useful. Rebecca's
article begins giving a description of the trip from Oregon to California (by car) and how Covid-
19 has impacted the experience as a whole. The article is then sectioned into 3 parts: Day 1, Day
2, and Day 3. The first section describes her experience in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park,
Coastal Vistas, and Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. This part mostly consists of her recalling
her awe at nature at recommending certain trails perfect for photography and sightseeing. The
second section is mostly the same except it is about a different park. The last section has her
briefly comparing the foot traffic in these parks to other more popular destinations. With that she
provides her closing remarks and wraps up her article. Now to answer the main question: why is
this article important? To tell the truth I would like to admit that this article does not really
provide any significant information on current environmental issues ,along with the political
issues surrounding it. However it is an effective mode of persuasion for people reading the article
to visit the national parks. And with the current pandemic going on ,which is forcing us to
remain indoors, these visits are even more important to raise our spirits. This article is extremely
effective in its persuasion to get people outdoors especially with its photography. The images of
the ancient sequoias provide readers with feelings of adventure and mysticism. The images
provided with descriptions of trails only further work to beckon the people into visiting. This
article definitely achieved its purpose in me . The parks that were listed are now part of my
visitation list and I will not be surprised if I end up walking one of the trails listed in rebeccas
write up. I recommend these parks to members of my family and ,being a fan of the outdoors,
they enthusiastically agreed that if we were going to spend time together one of the National
Parks listed in the article should definitely be chosen. I would like to end this periodical review
by writing that this article is relevant for public lands and conservation because when such
beautiful areas of this country exist it will be that people defend it with even more passion and
dedication. It could even be possible that some future leader will be inspired to change the world
because of some inspiration taken from walking in one of these magnificent parks.
