PREAMBLE
P.01 The quantities identified in the Bill of Quantities for the works to be carried out under this
contract have been measured based on the Tender Drawings. The Bill of Quantities herein,
including all notes and instructions, form an integral part of the Tender Documents.
However, the descriptions contained in the Bill of Quantities for each item are not
necessarily complete. The Subcontractor is referred to the Conditions of the Subcontract
and other Documents, Specifications, and Drawings as well as relevant Standards and Codes
of Practice for further information as no claim or variation will be considered on account of
the Contractor's failure to do so.
P.02 The Subcontractor is cautioned to familiarize himself with the full content of other Tender
Documents including the General Conditions of Subcontracts, Contract Drawings and
Specifications or any other information that can be reasonably inferred from any of them
and all obligations contained in the documents shall be included in the item rates and
prices.
P.03 The whole of the quantities shall be treated as approximate only and are given to provide
common basis for tendering which shall be subject to rechecking by the Subcontractor. The
basis of payment will be made based on the quantities shown & no extra amount or
quantity will be given whatsoever.
P.04 Drawings, Specifications and Bill of Quantities and all other documents are complementary
and if any item is included in any of them, it shall be deemed included in all.
P.05 Amendment shall not be made to this Bill of Quantities without the authority, in writing of
the Main Contractor. Any insertion of additional items or changes in description and
quantity will not be accepted.
P.06 The Contractor shall not use the Bill of Quantities as the basis for a construction program or
for the purpose of ordering materials or arranging subcontracts. The references for these
activities shall be the drawings, specifications and instructions issued by the Main
Contractor.
P.07 Units of Measurement
The following units of measurement and abbreviations have been used where ever
applicable.

Prime coat, tack coat, wearing course and binder course is considered as a complete system
Asphalt concrete paving including binder & wearing courses etc. are given in cubic meters.
Work deemed to include:
-Spreading and compaction
-Surface preparation and protective measures to avoid staining or damage
-Blotting of prime coat when required and cleaning of stains and repairing damage caused
by equipment.
Pavement Markings
Each kind of Marking is given separately. Pavement marking lines and painted pavement
markings are given in Number of each type or each (EA). Retroreflective and Ceramic
Raised Pavement Markers shall be measured by the unit EA based on the number required
by the drawings or ordered by the Company's Representative for each type of markers of
each authorized, completed and accepted by the Company's Representative.
For Pavement Ceramic raised markers and all related furniture, work deemed to include all
required materials, equipment, tools, labor, surface preparation, site pre-marking, and all
other items necessary for the proper completion of the Work as per drawings and
specifications.
P.11 All measurements are net and the rates shall include for all laps, waste, working space and
trade or traditional allowances.
P.14 In case of discrepancies between the prices or rates quoted and total amount for any item in
the Bill of Quantities, the unit rate or price shall be binding.
P.15 The Subcontractor is to ensure that identical items occurring in separate bills are not priced
at different rates.
P.16 A price or rate is to be entered against each item in the Bill of Quantities and any item left
unpriced shall be deemed to have been included for elsewhere in the Bill of Quantities and
hence the rate for the item shall be taken as “NIL” (even if not so noted).
P.17 Where fix or install only items are specified, the rate shall be deemed to include for taking
delivery, storing and installation of goods or materials in works where appropriate.
P.18 The rates and sums inserted in the Bill of Quantities are deemed to include for the following:
i) Labour and all costs in connection herewith.
ii) Materials, goods and all costs in connection therewith (e.g. carriage freightage delivery,
unloading, storing, returning, packing, handling, hoisting or lowering, replacing work,
goods or materials damaged, broken, lost or stolen until the issue of a Certificate of
Completion).
iii) Fittings and fixing materials or goods in position.
iv) Plant.
v) Land required for tips and stock piles including all costs for obtaining any necessary
licenses and approvals.
vi) Allowance for phasing requirements of works, effect on programming of the works of all
traffic diversions and construction activity associated with diversion or installation of
services.
vii) For taking measures for the support and full protection of pipes, cables and other
apparatus required during the progress of the Works as required by Service Authority &
Main Contractor.
viii) Overhead charges and profit. Overhead shall include for all costs in connection with
Letter of Credit, bank charges, interest charges and insurance after the material come
under the control of the Contractor
ix) Preparation and supply of shop drawings.
x) The Tenderer is to allow in his rates for the production of all shop drawings, working
drawings, as built drawings and operations and maintenance instructions called for in the
Specifications.

Note: Rolling shall continue until the entire thickness of each Base
layer is thoroughly and uniformly compacted to 100%, as per
AASHTO T-180, of maximum density through the full depth of the
layer.
CRACK SEALING
Crack Sealing of the structural pavement, treatment including the
removal of the existing surface layer (Asphalt pavement specific
thickness) with a milling machine and transporting the milled
material to disposal site, Supply & Installation of New asphalt to
replace the milled location & Cracks Sealing (sealing asphalt to the
cracks). Activities includes :
This is one of the maintenance methods and its used to fill several
types of cracks after selecting the appropriate filler, hot air, injection
tool and brush. In this activity, the asphalt surface after milling, will
receive crack sealing then the new asphalt layers will be added to
match the profile grade.
All relevant Base layers compacted to 100%, as per AASHTO T-180, of
maximum density through the full depth of the each relevant layer,
with all measures & materials required for proper execution,
complete as per AMANA / MOT / ADA acceptable Standards, attached
Road Pavement Reports, Technical Specification, 100 % Design
Drawings and Engineers instructions at site.
