In this day and age, it can not be denied that consumer goods have become

part and parcel of people’s life. More and more these goods are manufactured,
more and more polluted the environment becomes. In this essay, I will explain
several reasons for this and put forward some measures to this issue.

To begin with, The most obvious evidence is the exhaust gas and industrial
waste from the manufacturing process. As more goods are produced, more toxic
wastes and emissions are released from factories into nature, which is a threat to
marine animals. Another important factor contributing to this phenomenon is that
most tillable land has been used as landfills to bury the increasing rubbish, a huge
amount of which is not biodegradable. That is to say that rubbish of disposable
items will remain the same in the soil for a long period of time, thus bringing great
harm to the living habitats.

In order to solve this problem, some viable solutions must be put forward.
Firstly, the government should focus more measures, including public activities
and recycling schemes. In the first place, public activities should be sponsored by
the government to promote the awareness of environmental protection. In the
second place, companies should promote the use of eco-friendly material. These
products are definitely more expensive than traditional products, however, it is
trivial if we take the cost of disposing plastic products in consideration.

To put it briefly, there are two main reasons why the environment is severely
impacted by the increase in production of consumer goods. To address this issue,
governments and companies must join hands to tackle this.
