1.0 General
1.1 Scope
Specification for Stainless Steel Forgings

1.2 Code
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME):
Section II Part A, Ferrous Material Specification, 2007 Edition, 2008 addenda.

1.3 Material Specification : SA 182 F304/304L

1.4 End Use : For use as Standard flanges & Blinds

2.0 Specification & Technical Delivery Condition

2.1 The material shall strictly conform to the requirements of SA 182 of

ASME Section II, Part A, 2007 Edition + 2008 Addenda.
2.2 Chemical heat analysis in accordance with specification A 961 shall be made and
conform to the chemical composition prescribed in Table 2 of Specification SA 182
2.3 The material shall conform to the requirements as to mechanical properties
as listed in Table 3 of Specification SA 182.
2.4 The material shall be heat treated in accordance with the requirement of 6.1 and Table 1.
2.5 All accessible surface of the finished forging shall be examined by DPI
in accordance with Practice E165
2.6 Positive Material Identfication shall be conducted and forgings shall receive positive
material identification examination in accordance with Guide E 1916.
2.7 All austenitic grades shall be tested for average grain size by Test Method E112
2.8 Certificaton shall conform to the requirements of Specification A 961.

In addition, the Certified test Report shall include the following information and test results
2.8.1 Heat Number
2.8.2 Heat Analysis
2.8.3 Tensile Properties
2.8.4 Hardness Results
2.8.5 Other test results to be reported by the product specification
2.9 Product marking shall be as per Section 17 of this specification.
2.10 Material Mill Certificates shall be in accordance with EN-10204 3.1B.
2.11 All flanges shall be in accordance with ASME/ANSI B16.5 standard
2.12 The flange material specification shall comply with 304 & 304L of ASME Section II Part A,
