1.0 General
1.1 Scope
Specification for Carbon Steel Pressure Vessel Plates

1.2 Code
American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME):
Section II Part A, Ferrous Material Specification, 2007 Edition

1.3 Material Specification : SA 36 Or Eqv.

1.4 End Use : For Saddles

2.0 Specification & Technical Delivery Condition

2.1 The material shall strictly conform to the requirements of SA 36 of

ASME Section II, Part A, 2007 Edition. + 2008 Addenda
2.2 When components of steel structure are identified with this ASTM designation but the
product form is not listed in the scope of this specification, the material shall conform
to one of the standards listed in Table 1 unless otherwise specified.
2.2 The steel shall be killed and shall conform to the fine austenitic grain size requirement of
Specification SA 20.
2.4 The chemical composition shall conform to the requirements prescribed in Table 1
2.5 The material shall conform to the requirements as to tensile properties prescribed
in Table 2 of this material specification.
2.6 Special Requirement : None
2.7 Identification of Plates shall be as per Section 13 of Specification SA 20.

2.8 The manufacturer or processor shall report the results of all test required by this
Specification, the applicable supplementary requirements (if applicable) and the
Purchase Order. The heat number, the plate identificatier of the plate tested, and the
nominal plate thickness shall be shown in the test report. The year-date of the specification
to which the plates are furnished shall be included in the test report.
2.9 The Certified Test Report shall be dated and clearly identify the organization submitting the
report.
2.10 Material Mill Certificates shall be in accordance with EN-10204 3.1B.
2.11 The size, quantity & length of plates shall be as per relevant SWI0900053 PRS
