File No. Stds/O&K/Notification(11)/ FSSAI-2018 Food Safety and Standards Authority of India Regulatory Compliance Division (A Statutory Authority established under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006) EDA Bhawan, Kotla Road, New Delhi- 110002 Dated, the August, 2019 Subject: Disposal of Used Cooking Oil from Food Business Operators Reference is drawn to an order vide No.-1-2/Stds/O&F/Notification n (11)/F dated 30" January 2019 conveying the directions that the Food Business Operators whose consumption of edible oils for frying is more than 50 litres per day would maintain the usage records and would dispose used cooking oil to agencies authorised by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India or Commissioner of Food safety of States/UT’s from time to time. ‘This order was directed to be effective with effect from 01.03.2019. Subsequently, this time line was extended for three months which was effective from 1.06.2019 vide order dated 28.02.2019. 2. Further, FSSAI issued an order vide No~ Stds/O&F/Notification (11)/FSSAI-2018 dated 06.05.2019 requiring Biodiesel Manufacturers to enrol with FSSAI for collection of Used Cooking Oil from food business operators till the registration mechanism is developed under State/UTs as per clause (xiv) of the Gazette Notification dated 30th April, 2019 Vide No.- P-13039 (18)/1/2018-CC (P-26825) "Guidelines for sale of Biodiesel for blending with high speed diesel for transportation purposes-2019" issued by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The details of biodiesel manufacturers enrolled with FSSAI so far is Annexed. ‘The list would be updated regularly and details can be obtained from FSSAl Website hitps://fssai gov.in/ruco/enrolled-biodiesel-manufacturers php. The Food Safety Commissioners of all States/U'Ts are requested to ensure that all FBOs maintain the usage record and dispose off their Used Cooking Oil to authorised collection agencies or aggregators of enrolled Biodiesel Manufacturers only. It is also requested to conduct periodic inspection with a view to ensure that Biodiesel Manufacturers utilise the Used Cooking Oil for manufacture of Biodiesel only and the same does not enter into the food chain. 4.
