Candidate Statement

Greetings. I am asking for your support for the position of student member on the Community Board of

People’s College of Law. I realize that this is an important position and appreciate that you must take

care in making your selection. If selected I would work to increase student involvement in what goes on

at People’s College of Law. As one of your student board members I will engage school leadership to

advocate for fellow students’ interests. I will encourage the student body to raise their collective voice

to speak out, stand up and act out on behalf of their needs and interests. I believe there should be more

interaction between board members and the students they represent. I hope to be a visible and

approachable board member that you can rely upon to express your concerns. I would like the

opportunity to get to know what students truly feel about their college experience, really want and need

to succeed in their education and to gain their suggestions on how to make actual positive change

happen. WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER. WE ARE THE COLLEGE. I would appreciate your vote for me as a

student member of the Community Board. Thank you for your consideration.

In Solidarity,

Nicole Reese
Candidate for Student Member of Community Board
Robert Wymss – Candidate State, Community Board Student Member

I am running for a second term as a student member of the PCL Community

Board. Last year, working on the Building and Accountability Committee, I was
able to bring in an outside Licensed General Contractor whose values align with
PCL and who has been available to advise the committee as it recommends
repairs and improvements to the building. Having since taken on the role of
Chair, I have made myself available to respond on a same-day basis to urgent
security matters, including attending to broken locks and windows. For the
coming year I have set myself the ambitious project of working with the
Administrator to come up with ways of enhancing PCL’s accountability program.
This would include a new tracking system and identifying accountability tasks
that will encourage all students’ sense of stewardship of the school and its
mission. As a student representative to the Board I moved for the creation of
the Technology Committee, which has enabled PCL to meet the challenges of
online learning during the pandemic. In the past year I have also used my “soft
skills” – gained over my 30-year career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker – to
promote more cordial and respectful discourse, even where there may be
passionate substantive disagreements.
I think of the opportunity to serve PCL as a great honor, and I appreciate your
vote to reelect me to its Board.
CANDIDATE STATEMENT FOR TODD HILL

My name is Todd Hill. I am currently a 2L member of the 2023 Cohort.

It would be an honor to serve as a student member of the Board for PCL, focused primarily on improving
the quality of education and student academic success. As a voice for the student body on the Board, I
will advocate for the improvement of the overall quality of our education and availability of substantive
academic tools.

My personal experience in founding and operating a worker cooperative, including communicating with
a diverse membership and Board, has helped prepare me for this position.

I am committed to supporting both PCL’s mission and the student body necessary to fulfill it; to
generate social justice lawyers for the people, by the people!
