Dr. Fixit Flexicoat PU (I) is a pitch extended Polyurethane based elastomeric coating, formulated to provide
long lasting, maintenance free, superior waterproofing protection for concrete and steel structures. The
coating on curing forms a tough elastomeric membrane.

Areas of Application
}} Waterproofing or vapor barrier protection
}} Ground floors
Method of Application
The application temperature should be between 5º C to 35º C. Application procedures may vary slightly
depending upon site conditions. The general recommended guidelines for the application of coating
system are as follows:
1 S U R FAC E P R E PA R AT I O N
The surface shall be cleaned thoroughly of all contaminants like dust, traces of curling compound oil and
grease. Light mechanical grinding / grit blasting may be used to clean the surface of all the contaminants
on the surface to be coated. The concrete should be 28 days old and the surface moisture content less
than 5%. Shrinkage and non-structural cracks should be pre-treated with a 1 mm thick coating reinforced
with a 65 g/m2 geo textile fabric extending at least 50 mm on both sides of the crack. Allow the coating to
cure for 24 hours. Right angles and corners should have angle fillets installed. A suitable angle fillet can
be prepared by mixing 1 part cement and 1 part fine clean sand and a latex admixture. First apply a 0.5 mm
thick Dr. Fixit Flexicoat PU (I) on all the corners. Embed a 100 mm width reinforcing geo textile fabric on
the bedding coat. Then apply a second coat @ 0.5 mm thick, completely covering the reinforcement. Allow
it to cure for at least 12 to 24 hours. Install angle fillet on the corners extending on both sides by 50 mm.
Allow to cure for 24 hours prior to general application.

2 PRIMING
The coating can be applied directly onto the surface and does not require priming. However, for highly
porous substrate apply a solvent free epoxy primer @ 5 m2/ lt. Allow the primer to cure prior coating with
the top coat. The primer can be applied with a brush, roller or airless spray.

Dr. Fixit Flexicoat PU (I) being a modified product requires thorough mixing (for at least 3-5 mins) to
achieve a homogenous mix. Mixing shall be done with a mechanical drill (300-400 rpm) fitted to a
proprietary paddle mixer. Apply the coating @1 ltr/m2/coat to achieve a dry film thickness of 1 mm. The
coating can be applied in two coats of 0.5 mm each. Ensure that the second coat is applied only after the
first coat has become tack free. The second coat is recommended to be applied in the opposite direction
to the first coat as this will allow the polyurethane in the mix to be distributed more uniformly. The coating
will achieve its full mechanical properties after a period of 7 days.
4 S P EC I A L N OT E S
1. Provide adequate ventilation when installing in confined areas or spaces as noxious fumes may be
generated due to the presence of solvents.
2. Do not apply the coating on porous surfaces such as blocks. Porous surfaces should first be rendered
with 1:2 cement sand screed and primed with Dr. Fixit Epoxy Primer
3. Dr. Fixit Flexicoat PU (I) contains tar and is toxic. It should never be used in potable water retaining
structures.
4. As the coating is not U.V. Stable, adequate protection like cement sand screed or tiles should be
provided on top of the coating after it achieves its final cure.
5. Use of safety equipments like hand gloves, mask and safety goggles are a must when handling or
applying the product.
