6. As a practitioner, is there anything you already know about the conversation?

I am currently a music major and I know of the requirements at Appalachian state university,

however I do not know the requirements elsewhere. I am also aware that public school systems

are continuing to remove the arts as a whole from their schools or taking away all of the funding

for the arts. Due to my enrollment in the Hayes School of Music I am aware of the different class

loads between the different music degree programs but I have no knowledge of the majors

outside of music.

8. What kind of research do you think you might conduct?

Aside from conducting online research I wish do conduct informant interviews with some of the

faculty at the music building. Aside from having experts’ opinions and experiences on hand I

also want to conduct a wide spread survey to evaluate the difference between majors and how it

effects our students on campus. This research is fairly narrow considering my topic but I believe

it could hold great importance and a significant starting point for further research to take place

either by myself or others.
