Title: Workshop on “Technology Developments in Electric and Hybrid vehicles”
Venue: B.Arch – Auditorium, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology,Chennai
Keywords: All - Electric vehicles (AEVs), Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs), Battery Management System, Objective: Environmental concerns due to emissions and the depleting fossil resources are turning the attention of the automobile manufactures and the public towards hybrid and electric vehicles. Countries worldwide have planned to ban the production and future sale of IC engine based vehicles. Most automobile companies are vowing to switch to electric, a cleaner and sustainable alternative. The Indian government has formulated a Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles (FAME India) scheme in the year 2015 to promote manufacturing of electric and hybrid vehicle technology and to ensure sustainable growth of the same under the National Electric Mobility Mission 2020 to encourage the progressive introduction of reliable, affordable, and efficient electric and hybrid vehicles in the country. There is a surge in demand for skilled workforce in electric and hybrid vehicle technologies. The expertise in assembly, design, battery chemistry, electric motors, and advanced computer systems is becoming highly valued. The boom in EV has opened opportunities for the automobile industry, entrepreneurs, R&D, employability and higher education. The objective of this workshop is to impart knowledge and broad understanding of Electric vehicle architecture design, Electric drive and controller, Different battery chemistries and battery management systems.
