METHODOLOGY
Thirty-five patients suffering from irreparable rotator cuff tears underwent this Teflon graft surgery,
the average age of these patients was in the order of 75 to 76 years of age.
For at least a 42-month period, they were followed up after surgery and the data were collected,
taking into account the level of pain and the level of rotation of the patient's shoulder, respectively,
they were compared with the data prior to the surgical intervention.
RESULTS
It was observed that the patients who had received teflon grafts with a single layer had not
improved, since when doing the respective magnetic resonances it was observed that the tear still
remained in the shoulder, in the case of those who used only two layers of grafts, a little
improvement was observed, but not the expected one, in the last case, 3-layer Teflon grafts were
used, when doing the magnetic resonance, it was observed that there was no longer any tear in
the man and the pain had disappeared, however, there were two patients who had serious health
complications, after surgical intervention.

CONCLUSIONS
Using a three-layer Teflon graft in people with shoulder tears, pain significantly improved shoulder
mobility and healed a muscle tear that appeared to have no repair.
This type of graft is a very good option when it comes to tears in the rotator cuff, when there are no
other alternatives for its restoration at the muscular level.
This type of discoveries makes it possible to demonstrate that industrial engineering not only
studies work and processes in industry or that it only focuses on purely business aspects, but that
it can also make great contributions at the level of medicine, for the extensive knowledge at the
level of investigation and solution of problems that arise every day that man lives, as it is in issues
related to health and the human care sector.
