HTS/ENS 34207-16, Issue no. 0, dated 05.04.2016

1 The documents listed in the appendix have been examined for compliance with Part 5, Chapters 12,
13, 14 and 25 and Part 6, Chapters 1 and 2 of the Rules and Regulations for the Classification of
Ships, January 2016 and is/are assigned an appraisal status as indicated, in accordance with the

4 Comments from electrical department

4.1 This Document is not covering electrical aspects according Part 6, Chapter 2, Section 14. (Electrical
equipment for use in explosive gas atmospheres or in the presence of combustible dusts).

4.2 It is noted that supply cables are not scope of supply. Nevertheless the cable temperature class and
the nominal cross-section has to be in accordance with the requirements of Table 2.11.3 of the Rules
and Regulation Part 6, Chapter 2. Final arrangement is to be to the local surveyor’s satisfaction.

4.3 The utilized software version(s) needs to clearly identify in the relevant test schedule. Any changes of
software versions are to be documented as well with information to the local Surveyor. AQS

5 Comments from machinery department

5.1 Material used for the Ballast Water Treatment System is to be manufactured and tested in
accordance with the requirement of the Rules for the Manufacture, Testing and Certification of
Materials.

5.2 Installation in the ship including by-pass and isolation arrangement, fresh water supply, water drain,
flow meter, sampling points and flow control valve is to be in accordance with P&ID overview
928002 E and the Installation manual and instructions. AQS

5.3 By-pass and isolation valves are to be provided with remote means of operation and position
indicators to give remote indication of the valve position. AQS

5.4 Failure of the ballast water treatment power or control system is not to restrict by-pass or isolation
arrangements or alternatively it is to be demonstrated that the fail safe arrangement is in place to
ensure the function of by-pass and isolation arrangements. AQS

5.5 Air relief valves are to demonstrate that the risk of leakage is prevented. Vent arrangements are to
be directed to a safe location on open deck. AQS

5.6 The ship specific installation of the ballast water treatment system is to be approved on a case by
case basis by the design support office responsible for plan approval of the vessel piping systems and is
to be in compliance with Part 5, Chapter 25 of the Rules.
