The Performing Arts Foundation program introduces students to career options with the performing arts, both onstage
and behind the scenes. Students will hone their performance and technical production skills, develop a greater
knowledge and improved ability to work within a creative environment; and will have a deeper understanding of the
nature of a career in the performing arts. In addition to developing the personal skills required for a successful career,
students will also acquire a deeper knowledge of three key areas:

Performance:
• Achieve a level of proficiency in dance, voice, and/or acting to advance to more specialized training.
• Demonstrate the self-discipline required to practice regularly.
• Gain an understanding of the physical demands of rehearsal and performance.

Technical Production:
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the range of opportunities within the performing arts industry.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the terminology used in performing arts productions.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the roles of the various technical contributors to a production.
• Demonstrate basic skills in areas of technical production.

Business/Communication:
• Demonstrate a collaborative approach to project management.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of the entertainment business.
• Demonstrate the ability to manage financial affairs, records and contracts.
• Demonstrate the ability to manage the personal affairs associated with a small business.

Graduate Opportunities:
By the end of this one-year program, students
will have gained the skills required for acceptance
into more advanced training in their chosen area
and will have the opportunity to prepare audition
pieces.

Admission Requirements:
• Grade 12 or equivalent with credits at or above
the general level.
• Performance audition.
• Resumé including work and volunteer experience
with applicable dates, membership in groups,
associations or athletics, awards and distinctions,
and any other information about yourself relevant
to the program.
