PRODUCT PROPOSAL (PART 2)

Description of the product:

Crystalderm Tawas with Kalamansi is especially formulated with liquid alum and natural
extracts from Kalamansi fruit which helps lighten and deodorize the skin particularly the armpits.
Both Alum and Kalamansi are traditionally used to neutralize body odor and prevent excessive
perspiration on the armpits. The calamansi fruit which is laden with natural vitamin C has
several medicinal skin benefits. This soap promotes skin whitening too. Let everyday be a clean
and odor-free skin day.

Study shows that Calamansi can lighten darkened skin. Besides skin lightening, you can
also use this citrus fruit as anti-perspirant. Calamansi when used will prevent your armpits from
perspiring and will help keep it odor-free. Some individuals are allergic to deodorants. Others
avoid using it because it can cause darkening of the armpits and leave a stain on the clothes
they wear. Using the soap is the best alternative in these situations.Calamansi or Citrofortunella
microcarpa, is a citrus fruit closely related to the Mandarin orange and Sweet orange.
Calamansi has a very distinct alkalinizing effect on the human body, with alkaline properties
present in the peel and juices of the fruit. The fruit can be used for whitening the skin, as well as
a bleaching agent on mild stains of white garments.. Many soaps are made with calamansi as
an active ingredient for whitening and toning skin, however, the raw fruit can be used just as
well for the same process.

Country to be exported: INDIA

Unblemished fair skin has been sought after for centuries, holding classist and racist
undertones that still persist today. In particular, Asian countries have a strong and expensive
obsession with skin whitening. According to the International Trade Administration, Asian
countries have one of the fastest growing global market.

Due to the high prevalence of use in Asian and African countries, skin fairness product
use is recognized as a growing public health concern. The multi-million-dollar skin fairness
product industry has also been criticized for perpetuating racism and social inequalities by
reinforcing beliefs about the benefits of skin fairness for cultural capital. In several Asian
countries and cultures, white or fair skin is perceived to be more attractive and desirable due to
its social advantages for marital and career prospects (1, 18).. The advertising industry in
particular, is argued to play a significant role in reinforcing and capitalizing on stereotypical
notions of caste, age, race, and beauty. Shankar et al. India has this desire for light skin and fair
skin. So what is behind this desire for whiteness?
“Indians are racist; it’s a deep-rooted thing here,” Das says. “There are two factors
driving this absurd mania,” says Urvashi Butalia, co-founder of Kali for Women, India’s first
feminist publisher. “Firstly there’s the invasions, with the idea that the Aryans are superior to the
Dravidians; secondly the caste system, the upper castes supposedly being fairer skinned than
their lowlier fellows. India’s rulers have often been white, from the Aryans to British colonialists.
A pale skin is associated with the exercise of power.”

That is why India is the country that I chose to export the product - Tawas Calamansi Soap.
Since Indian consumers are led to believe that fairer skin will provide them with higher status,
and advertisements serve to reinforce this notion (21, 22). Phillips (23) describes the societal
equation of fairness with beauty and the accompanying negative connotation of lack of beauty
associated with darker skin color in India.

Process of Exportation:

Packing List - The Export Packing List provides the exporter, international freight forwarder and
ultimate consignee with information about your shipment, the packing details and the marks and
numbers noted on the outside of the boxes. It’s also used as a supporting document in the
event of a dispute between the carrier and the exporter regarding the measurement and weight
of the cargo. It includes details about the contents of a package. It is intended to let transport
agencies, government authorities, and customers know the contents of the package. These
details help each of these parties handle the package accordingly.

A letter of credit - also known as a documentary credit or bankers commercial credit, or letter of
undertaking (LoU), is a payment mechanism used in international trade to provide an economic
guarantee from a creditworthy bank to an exporter of goods. The major advantage of Letter of
credit to a supplier is minimizing of credit risk. In an import and export trade, the geographical
distance between importer and exporter is very far; hence ascertaining credit worthiness of
buyer is a major threat. In a mode of Letter of credit, such risk can be avoided.
Certificate of Inspection is a document certifying that the concerned merchandise (including
perishable goods) was in good condition immediately prior to its shipment. The Certificate of
Inspection is an inspection report or report of findings and is required by some importers or
importing countries.

The export or trader uses such a report in the inspection of goods purchased from a
manufacturer. The export-manufacturer also uses such a report in the inspection of its own
productions.

A Bill of Lading (B/L or BoL) document is an extremely important document involved in the
shipping and logistics industry. A Bill of Lading is a document that the Carrier of goods issues to
the “Shipper” of the goods. It's a document to provide evidence or proof of shipment. In other
words it embodies the agreement between the carrier and the shipper on movement and
delivery of goods. It is used as a receipt signed by the carrier confirming that the goods match
the description listed, and have been received by the carrier in good order.
