COURSE SYLLABUS
The course is a 3-unit experiential curriculum which develops students’ personal sense
of responsibility and identity, social responsibility in school, community and the world; and
wellness or well-being so they can live healthy, happy, and prosperous with high level of
positive functioning in mental health domain; clarify the values that define themselves as a
person, have a good grasp of their self-concept or self-identity; discover their interests and
passions; realize their innate potential and strengths; and embrace life challenges to become a
contributing member of the society.
The course consists of three parts: personal responsibility, social responsibility and
wellness or well-being of the students. It focuses on what is relevant to the Filipino college
students in general; grants them sufficient knowledge and skills that will help them understand
themselves and their environment; and equip, empower, and embolden them as they progress
from adolescence to young adulthood.
Social Responsibility suggests that an individual has an obligation to act for the benefit
of the society at large. The students are accountable for their actions, in this way, there must be
a balance between economic growth and the welfare and interest of the society and the
environment so that they can make a difference in the world.
Wellness or Well-being is much more than merely physical health, exercise or nutrition.
It is a dynamic process of change and growth and a full integration of states of physical, mental,
social, and spiritual well-being. The students must become aware of and making choices
towards a conscious, healthy, self-directed and fulfilling life to reduce the like hood or impact of
negative life experiences and ensure enhanced opportunities for productive and secure life.
Since this curriculum use module workbook as a learning guide in teaching the subject,
the teacher should be allowed to lengthen the duration so that student will have a good grasp of
the lesson. It has one-topic per meeting, however, if the teacher introduce sensitive topic to the
students and the students display an interest and openness to it, or perhaps raise some of their
concerns about it. Should the teacher find it necessary to take more time or use all activities
given in the module workbook, the duration of the lesson can extend depending on the
availability of the students in their free time. The teacher may integrate any topic or lesson as
he/she deems fit in any of the lessons.
