CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP 2018-2019

Online applications are invited from Indian nationals for the award of Chinese Government
Scholarship 2018-19 which is being offered by the Government of China under Bilateral
Programme for pursuing higher studies/research/specialization. The scholarship is being offered for
the following programmes:
(i) Undergraduate programs, (ii) Master’s programs, (iii) Doctoral programs, (iv) General
Scholar program and (v) Senior Scholar programs.

2. The candidates may apply in the following subject fields:

(a) Language & Literature
(i) Chinese Language and Literature
(b) Science (pure and applied):
(i) Electronics
(ii) Electricals
(iii) Computer Science
(iv) Civil Engineering/Architecture
(v) Biotechnology
(vi) Communication Engineering
(vii) Biology
(viii) Physics
(ix) Chemistry
(c) Humanities and Social Sciences
(i) Environmental Studies
(ii) Management
(iii) Political Science with International relations
(iv) Economics
(v) Painting and Sculpture
(vi) Agriculture

3. ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS:-
(a) Qualifications and age (as on 01.04.2018):-
i) Undergraduate programs: applicant must be a high school graduate under the age of 25
ii) Master’s programs: applicant must be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35
iii) Doctoral programs: applicant must be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40
iv) General Scholar program: applicant must be under the age of 45 and have completed at least
two years of undergraduate study when applying for general scholar
programs
v) Senior Scholar programs: applicant must be master’s degree holder or an associate professor
(or above) under the age of 50 when applying for senior scholar
programs.
(b) Required percentage: Candidate must be having 60% mark in the required qualification.

4. Other conditions:
(a) Candidates who have already been abroad for study/research/training for more than
six months at a time either on a scholarship or on their own, are eligible to apply only if they
have been in India for at least two years after their return from abroad as on 04.03.2018.

(b) Applications of candidates who are abroad will not be considered.

5. Value of Scholarship:- Please visit Chinese Government website

http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or www.campuschina.org for details of value of scholarship
provided by the Government of China.

Airfare: The Government of India will bear the International passage cost from India to China and
back.

6. Submission of online applications:

Applicants are required to apply online through Ministry of Human Resource Development
portal http://proposal.sakshat.ac.in/scholarship by 04.03.2018.

Applicants are also required to apply online simultaneously through China Scholarship
Council website http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or www.campuschina.org . Instruction
for applying to China Scholarship Council application form is enclosed.

Note:
It is compulsory for the applicant to apply in the above portals before the cut-off date,
failing which would make his/her candidature ineligible.

No hard copy of online application is required to be sent to Ministry of Human Resource

Development.

7. The documents to be uploaded at the time of applying online at

http://proposal.sakshat.ac.in/scholarship :

(a) Self attested scanned copy of the mark-sheet, certificate, degrees, diploma,
qualifying examination (marks sheet and certificate/degree/diploma should be
scanned together as .pdf file or zipped and should be uploaded in the specific place.
The size of the scanned or zipped file must not exceed 530 kb).

(b) Where grades are mentioned, the candidate must upload the official explanation
adopted by the University/Institution along with marks sheet/degree.

(c) Self attested copy of class 10th certificate bearing date of birth to be uploaded in the
respective section.
(Document size: the size must be under 530 kb for a single file. Applicant can make .pdf
file or can zip in case of more than one document to be uploaded. A zip file is treated as a
single file and it must be under 530 kb)
8. The shortlisted candidates would be called for interview. The candidates while coming for
interview must bring the following documents:

a) All original documents in respect of age, qualification etc. for verification.

b) NOC/Cadre Clearance (in case of Government Servant).

c) In case where grades are awarded, the candidates are required to furnish exact percentage of
marks and its conversion formula.

d) Hard copy of application submitted at China Scholarship Council application portal. The
application must be supported by the following documents:

i) Notarized highest diploma: Prospective diploma winners must bring official proof of
student status by their current school.

ii) Chinese or English translation (notarized copy) of the document(s) which is other than
Chinese or English language.

iii) Academic transcripts.

iv) A write-up of study plan or research proposal in English (a) a minimum of 200 words
for undergraduates, (b) 500 words for non-degree students and 800 words for
postgraduate/Ph.D.

v) Recommendation letters: Applicants for Master’s and Ph.D. programs or senior scholar
programs must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors
or associate professors.

vi) Applicants for fine arts programme must submit their own works which include two
sketches, two color paintings and two other works.

vii) Applicants who are under the age of 18 must submit the valid documents of their legal
guardians in China.

viii) Copy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (copy enclosed) completed in English.
The original copy should be kept by the applicant. The physical examination must cover all
the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those
without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a
sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take
physical examination as this is valid for 6 months only.

Please submit the following documents if applicable:

ix) pre-admission Letter from Chinese Government Scholarship universities.

x) Language qualification certificate e.g. HSK certificates, IELTS or TOFEL report.

Important Notes

(i). The study of Chinese Language Course of about one year is mandatory before starting study
in relevant subject in Chinese Language. The medium of instructions/study in China is
Chinese Language, hence the candidates must keep this fact in mind before sending
application for Chinese Government Scholarship. No request for exemption or waiving of
Chinese Language Course will be entertained after nomination/selection and candidature of
applicant will be rejected summarily if he/she is not willing to study Chinese Language in
China. Many programmes are taught only in Chinese Language in the Chinese
university/institutions. The applicants are, therefore, advised to choose the programme
carefully.

(ii). Candidate is required to give a write-up of his/her study plan or research proposal in
English (a) a minimum of 200 words for undergraduates, (b) 500 words for non-degree
students and 800 words for postgraduate/Ph.D while applying online at
http://proposal.sakshat.ac.in/scholarship .

(iii). Equivalent foreign degree will be considered.

(iv). Candidate is expected to have adequate knowledge of geographical situation, culture and
heritage of China.

(v). Canvassing in any form and suppression of any fact in the application will disqualify the
candidature of the applicant.

(vi). Mere fulfillment of minimum requirements does not qualify a candidate for interview.

(vii). The decision of selection committee shall be final and no representation will be entertained
in this regard.

(vii). The final selection of the nominated candidates rests with the Government of People’s
Republic of China.

(ix). The applicant in employment (to which he/she wishes to return) should have an assurance
from his/her employer that he/she will be granted sufficient leave if he/she is awarded this
scholarship during study period in China.

(x). All information regarding the date of interview of short listed applicants will be made
available on MHRD’s website www.mhrd.gov.in/scholarships .

(xi). All communication to short listed applicants will be made on their registered email. It is
advised that working email should be provided.

Step 1: Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.org and click “Application Online

for International Students”.

Step 2: Read “Tips for online application” carefully before clicking “NEXT” to the registration
page.

Step 3: Log in with your user name and password. For new user, please click “Create an account”
for registration.

Step 4: Fill in the correct Program Category and Agency Number. An Agency Number
represents a specific application receiving agency and a correct choose of Program Category is
necessary before filling in the Agency Number. Please make sure you fill it in correctly, otherwise
you will not be able to continue your online application or your application will not be accepted.

Your ‘Program Category’ is: Type A and ‘Agency No.’ is 3561. Once the correct ‘Agency
Number’ is entered, the name of the agency will automatically emerge.

Step 5: Fill in the Online Application Form and upload Supporting Documents truly, correctly
and completely following the steps listed on the left of the page.

Applicants are required to select a discipline before choosing their majors. Please refer to the
Disciplines Index, which could be downloaded from Help, if you have any doubt about the
disciplines and majors.

Step 6: Check each part of your Application carefully before submitting it. Click Submit to submit
your Application. The submitted documents will be the only reference for the applied universities
to confirm the admission.

Step 7: You can make changes to your application by clicking Withdraw and Edit the Application
on the top of the page. But make sure to submit it again by clicking Submit after finishing all the
changes. Otherwise, the retrieved application will become invalid and your new application will not
be received either.

Step 8: Download the completed Application Form by clicking Print the Application Form and
print two hard copies.

Step 9: Prepare other supporting documents as required and send the full package of application
documents (in duplicate) to the dispatching authorities.

Only Chinese and English language are accepted for the online application.
