Online participation 
► General information 
1. The  conference  will  take  place  both  online  and  live  in  order  to  be  the  most 
accessible to everyone, from participants to chairs and attendants.  
2. Please make sure you have a stable internet connection. 
 
► Papers presentation and Q&A 
1. The  selected  online  platform  in  which  the  conference  will  occur  is  ​ZOOM​. 
Please  note  that  the  event  simultaneously  streamed  on  Youtube  in  case  you 
want to share with someone interested to assist without previous registration. 
However,  as  a  participant  in  the  conference,  for  you  to  present  a  paper  and 
participate in the Q&A sessions, you must be logged in to ZOOM. 
2. You  have  up  to  ​20  minutes  to  deliver  your  paper  followed  by  ​10  minutes  of 
discussion. We please ask to respect these timings.  
3. To present a paper online, you have two ways to do it: 
Option A:​ Pre-recorded presentation in a video format (preferred option) 
a. Please  send  us  your  video  (.mp4  and  other  standard  formats)  until 
September  27  ​so  that  all  the  testing  can  be  done  in  time.  We  will  not 
accept any videos after this date.

b. At  the  time  of  your  paper  (check  programme),  your  video  will  be 
transmitted  and  you  should  be  online  during  its  presentation  and for the 
following Q&A session with the other participants and attendants.  
 
 
 
Option B:​ Live presentation on ZOOM 
a. We  recommend  that  you  make  use  of  any resources you may choose to 
accompany your paper, such as audiovisual materials, slideshows, etc. 
b. To  present  these  resources  along  your  paper,  you  must  screen-share 
your presentation on ZOOM. 
c. For  these  and  other  matters,  we  will  test  the  live  ZOOM  papers  with  the 
respective  authors  ​September  29  at  a  scheduled  time  previously 
arranged.  
i. We  kindly  request  that  you  provide  us  with  a  copy  of  your 
presentation  files  in  order  to  have  a  backup  in  case  the  screen 
sharing process has any issue.  
 
► ZOOM guide 
1. Please  ensure  you  have  the  ZOOM  client  installed  on  your  computer  and  an 
active  account to enter the meetings and participate in the sessions. ​Check this 
101​ if you have any questions regarding its setup.  
2. We  will  send  all  the  ZOOM links and passwords to access the panels in a timely

3. Recommendations for good ZOOM practices: 

a. Keep  your  mic  off/muted  when  not  talking.  If  you  are  a  presenter  or  are 
asking a question, make sure your mic is n
​ ot m
​ uted. 
b. During  your  presentation,  please  keep  your  camera  on.  In  every  other 
instance,  it’s  of  your  preference  to  disable  or  not  your  camera.  Keep  in 
mind  that  it’s  nice  for  everyone  -  presenters,  chairs  and  attendees  -  to 
see  faces,  smiles  and  reactions  instead of black screens, even more at a 
time that we need to be reconnected.  
c. If  you  are  uncomfortable  showing  your  background​,  you  can  choose  a 
virtual  one.  This  is  a  virtual  background  that  acts  as  a  green  screen 
behind  you,  hiding  your  background.  You  can  use  this  in  Zoom  by 
accessing its preferences, c
​ heck​ this guide here.  
d. Please  write  your  name  in  ZOOM.  If  you  log  in  with  your  account,  this  is 
automatic;  if  not,  you’ll  be  asked  to  write  your  name.  As  funny  or  cute 
your  nickname  can  be  (such  as  Youtube4Ever,  UnicornsOfParadise, 
GoAwayCovid)  everybody  must  recognize  you  either  in  the  video  area or 
in the chat. 
e. Plan  to  enter  the  ZOOM meetings (or panels) a few minutes early, as you 
would  do  in  a  live  conference.  This  will  allow  you  some  extra  time  to  go 
over  any  possible  internet  or  ZOOM  connection  delays.  You can also get

Live participation 
 
► General information 
1. The  conference  will  take  place  both  online  and  live  in  order  to  be  the  most 
accessible to everyone, from participants to chairs and attendants.  
2. The  conference  venue  is  ​Colégio  Almada  Negreiros  of  the  NOVA  University  of 
Lisbon.  
3. Due  to  the  current  pandemic  situation,  there’s  a  few  recommendations  and 
rules we all have to follow and respect: 
a. The use of masks is compulsory everywhere on the campus. Please note 
that  the  welcome  kit  has  a  reusable  mask  for  the  participants,  however, 
you must bring your own mask before to access the building.  
b. There’ll  be  several  points  of  disinfectant  gel around the campus that you 
can freely use alongside the one we also offer in the kit.  
c. The  coffee  breaks  and  lunches  will  take  place  in  a  reserved  area  in  the 
campus pateo.  
d. Please be aware of the physical distancing (2m) between people.  
 
► Papers presentation and Q&A 
1. At  the  time  of  your  panel,  please  show  up  in  advance  (15  min)  to  avoid  any 
delays and proceed with necessary technical testing. 
2. You  have  up  to  ​20  minutes  to  deliver  your  paper  followed  by  ​10  minutes  of 
discussion. We please ask to respect these timings.  
3. Even  though  your  presentation  is  live,  some  other  participants  of  your  panel 
may be online, the chair included.

4. All  the  papers  will  be  delivered  in  the  conference  computer  that  will  be 
disinfected between each usage.  
a. If  you  have  any  audiovisual  resources,  slideshows,  etc.,  please  bring 
them in a pendrive or an online drive, so that they can be presented in the 
equipment.  We  recommend  that  you  for  slideshow  presentations,  you 
use  either  Google  Slides  or  PowerPoint  to  avoid  incompatibilities.  If  you 
bring videos and/or music, please bring the original files.
