According to UNICEF, Filipino children are increasingly suffering from
poor diet, inadequate nutrition, and food systems that are failing them. Thus,
a third of the Filipino children are under a lot of health risks as they grow such
as weak immune system, stunting, impaired cognitive development, anemia,
and susceptibility to diseases. Nutrimission: “Filipino Youth Towards Proper
Nutrition” aims to educate young Filipinos on proper nutrition and to raise
awareness on the risks of poor nutrition such as growth stunting and cognitive
impairments. Furthermore, it also aims to combat poor nutrition in school
aged children by conducting activities such as free check up with volunteer
doctors and nurses to monitor and diagnose children who are experiencing
stunting and poor nutrition. The program will also provide Nutri-teaching
which is an education presentation about proper eating habits and the right
diet for children. Lastly, the program will be holding a kid’s feeding program
that will serve as a guide for the proper portions of a healthy meal to the
Filipino children. This is all done in hopes of lowering the statistics of children
experiencing malnutrition and stunting in the Philippines. The event will be
held on July 6, 2020, 10 am at Dalahican Elementary School in Lucena City,
Quezon Province and will be sponsored by the CAVS Foundation.
