Oral Communication: Switch and Share

In our current situation right now brought by the pandemic, our communication is greatly
affected by it. Using what you have learned, how do you think can we use communication
in purposeful means in these challenging times?

Communication is one of the greatest means to get through this pandemic. Even if most of the
people now are locked down inside their houses, communication sheds a light of hope to
everyone in the world now. Truly, communication is helpful in so many ways. Communication
can be compared to a key that unlocks different doors. First, communication unlocks the door of
depression and anxiety. Because of the pandemic, adults and youth both experience solitude and
sadness. Some even experience extreme anxiety, doubts and fear. But through communication,
people are able to communicate with another. People get to comfort each other and lighten each
one’s burdens. Communication through social media, calls and text messages serves as a bridge
to the gaps that were made due to this pandemic.

Moreover, the communication between people has many limitations. Before the pandemic, we
meet people and talk with them personally. But now, it is only through social media that people
catch up and speak with each other. But still, through communication, it unlocks another door.
Second, communication unlocks the door to learning virtually. A lot of things have been
affected and one of these is the studies of all the students in the country. Parents and children
became so worried in terms of how classes will resume in the middle of this difficult situation.
But because there is communication, the gap has been fixed. Instead of having face to face
classes inside the classroom, the students are given the choice to study through online Zoom
classes. Looking on the brighter side, it shows that this pandemic is not a barrier to stop students
from pursuing their studies.

Third and last, communication unlocks the door of hope and faith. It is true that we are in a
difficult situation right now, but because of communication, we become informed of the facts
and the possible situations that might happen around us. We access websites, read the news and
received updates regarding the pandemic and how the world slowly overcomes it. We may
receive negative news but still we also get a dose of hope when we become knowledgeable that a
cure or a vaccine is possibly developing in our country and to other countries as well.

People might not always see the importance of communication, but it is truly essential in our
lives. People breathe through speaking. People release their innermost emotions through writing.
People overcome difficulties through communicating. Communication is a necessary part of our
human nature indeed. It something that we can neither neglect nor abandon. As a student, I see
and believe that communication is purposeful and significant. Communication is a key to unlock
endless doors and possibilities.
