CLED: Reflection Activities 1 and 2

Ins-think 1

1. Which situations do you think describe threats to human dignity?

- Situations that describe threats to humanity are abortion, euthanasia, crime
and prostitution.
2. Why do you think people will resort to violate his own dignity? Give answers on
the perspective of the drug users and peddlers, policemen, government official
and onlookers.
- I think one of the reasons is that they think that there is no other way or no
other job that will accept them considering the degree they finished. For
policemen and government officials who do wrong things in the government,
they do those crimes out of greed or selfishness to gain more from the
government.
3. Based on the words of Bishop David, how can we treat someone with dignity?
- We can treat someone with dignity by being sensitive with someone around
us. In this simple way, we can express our love and care to one another.
4. How and why can human dignity be taken away? Where is God in these
situations?
- I think because they didn't ask God first. They made their own decision.
Because they know that is the only way to escape their hunger.
5. Relate one instance in your life where your dignity has been trampled. How did
you cope with it?
- This happened to me when someone made a gossip about me and told many
people about it. That time, it feels like to me that my dignity has been
trampled.

Ins-think 2

1. When life is threatened, why must not I agree on human cloning, embryonic stem cell
research and death penalty?
- When life is threatened, I know that I must not agree to these because it is
against the law of God and of man. There is no law at legally allows someone
to be murdered. These methods are against the law of God and man. We all
have a right to live and enjoy a good life. It must not be taken away from us
except if God is the one who will take it from us.
2. When I read one of the verses in the Scriptures on how God gave dignity to each
person, why must I continue to treat each person with respect and honor?
- Because the Scriptures show that man is created after God’s image. Our image
and likeness are the same with God. Due to that, we must all respect and
honor each other as being created from the likeness of God. If we respect and
honor God, we must also honor ourselves.
3. When cases of exclusion and inequality prevail in our society, why must I do
something to stop it?
- I must speak my voice against inequality and justice. In my own little ways, I
will do what is right, just and equal to my neighbors. In that way, I can cause
an impact to the people around me. I will also support those people in the
government who fight against inequality and injustice.
4. When I heard of “throwaway culture” and “leftovers”, why must I not worry for
myself but for others?
- I must not worry about myself and be more worried about others because in
this way, I can be selfless and considerate of the welfare and status of other
people. If I will only think about myself, it will teach me to become selfish
and greedy. But if I will think about the situation of other people and be more
conscious about them, I can be selfless and will be able to give what they also
deserve as individuals.
5. When I see persons being exploited, work as prostitutes, and sold as commodity, why
must I help rather than pity them?
- I must help them so that they will be able to rise up from their difficult
situation. It is not enough that I pity them or I feel bad because they live a bad
life, I must also help them and do something that will bring a good change in
their lives. I must help them to change for the better and not for the worse. I
will be there for them to lift them up and not to bring them down.
