B. Enrichment: read the article by Nicole Dabu which was posted in Vulcan Post website in July
19, 2019 then answer the questions that follow:

1. What common traits, skills or qualities did you see from the business leaders mentioned in the
article?

- I saw their willingness to become successful in their businesses in the future. Their
determination and hard work proved us that even if we are born in just a simple and ordinary life,
we have the capacity to become billionaires someday if we will be persevering and determined to
pursue it.

2. Who among these business leaders inspired you the most? Why?

- They inspired me a lot but Henry Sy inspired me the most. We all know the history behind his
successful life. Henry Sy was born from a poor family. He started helping his family through
their sari-sari store. And after a few years, because of his determination and mindset that he
would be a successful businessman someday, he became one. Because of his dreams, he became
who he always wanted to become someday.
C. Think Piece No. (Interview with a Manager)

Interview a relative or someone you know who works as a manager. Ask about their experiences,
skills and qualities they possess which they prove to be essential in performing their tasks. Then,
write your reflection about these experiences. What other preparations, qualities or skills must
managers possess in order to effectively lead an organization?

- I interviewed someone I know who has experiences of being a Manager he said "Being
an Operations Manager for an IT consulting company presents a lot of challenges which
have to be faced with very specific skills. First is technical expertise. This means that
since I am tasked to oversee a larger group, I have to be afluent on every parts of the
group. Which tasks they have to perform and what output they have to deliver. Second, I
have to understand the strengths and motivations of the people I manage.

Relating with them is an utmost priority to be able to maximize the potential of my team.
Most of the time, people perform well not because of money but because of positive
relationships they have within the company. I also need to make sure that my
subordinates' career progression is on the right track. Third is time management. While
knowing the job well and the people that perform them are the main things, being able to
deliver quality and on-time results for the company must always be the end goal. Last and
maybe one of the unspoken traits a manager needs to be successful is being a visionary.

I always aim to help improve our company by thinking ahead of what needs to be added,
removed or changed within the processes inside our organization so that we continue to
be at par with the competition. It also helps the top management gain confidence in what
my team does, understanding that we are doing more than what is expected of us." His
experiences said that we need to apply the Human Skills to perform a good Manager. I
noticed that every Manager should know the importance of Human Skills to their
subordinates and how they handled it in a good way.
