TASK 1

What's In
In the parable, it is hard to imagine that a Samaritan would help a Jew since he is
considered by the Jewish society as an outcast. But what happened was the other way
around - he helped the Jew despite of their differences and the unfair treatment to him.
This story clearly explains how man can go beyond cultural considerations and how one
can overcome grudges to performing an ethical act towards a needy person.

It may be considered as unusual phenomenon in the present social realm but the
story tells us it is never impossible. Like the Good Samaritan, you may have encounter
strangers who need help. If there is/are any incident/s you helped somebody unknown
to you, please narrate your experience/s below. Tell how you overcame your fear of
strangers and what made you decide to help the person/s. But if you don't have any
experience, tell us what you would do if you encounter one and why would you help
them.

MY GOOD SAMARITAN EXPERIENCE

When me and my friends are hanging out outside, a blind man walks past us.
We notice that he's holding biscuits while walking. We slowly approach him and ask if
he needs something. He said that "I'm hungry". Me and my friends bought food for
him and also we gave him water. We ask him where he will go. He said that he's lost
and he's from Albay, Bicol. We quickly handed him to the barangay to assist him on
going back home.

My friends want to help like him because I believe that we should help each
other because we are all humans that survive in this world full of hatred.

TASK 2

What I Have Learned

To verify the knowledge you gained in this lesson, let us situate the idea of
intersubjectivity in your own personal experiences and let us check whether its
relevance in our lives.

Answer the following questions thoroughly. 3-5 sentences are enough.

1. Are there instances in your life when you feel you are treated as an object?
Share some experiences. How does it feel? Would you do the same treatment to
others? Why?
I alway feel that I am an object to everyone. They will only remember
me if they need or want from me. They always ask me for help for their
assignments, breakdowns or for someone to talk to. I feel nothing because
I'm used to it. I don't want to do this same treatment to others because I
don't want them to feel like an object that after using it, they will throw it in
the garbage.

2. Give some personal experiences when you feel you are treated as a subject.
How do you feel when you are treated in that way? Is it lawful to do the same to
others? Why?
One of my personal experiences when I was treated as a subject
when I realtalk one of our friends for having a bad odor. I said that he
should always take a bath and have proper hygiene. After that, I heard that
they talk bad behind my back and said that I'm too harsh and bad. I don't
feel bad because I just stated the fact that he's smelly and he needs proper
hygiene. I don't want him to receive plastic answers because reality is
better than fake. It is awful because it feels like you're a bad person even if
you do the right thing.

3. What do you think is the reason why people treat others as objects?
I think the reason why people treat others as objects is because
they only need them if they need something or help with something. They
always treat others because they think they are cool for disregarding the
feelings of the person. Because they don't have this or that, they need
someone who will fulfill what they want and need and after that, they will
throw that person as if he/she is trash.

4. What do you have in mind when you treat others as subjects?

When I treat others as subjects, I always have this conscience that
will make me realize that it is bad to make someone as a subject because
it might cause their overthinking and trigger their anxiety. I will have this
guilt in my mind that tells me that I'm a bad person by making someone as
a subject. Because of that, I always talk straight fotward to them to let them
know what I want to talk about.

5. Do you think that we can make a better world if we prioritize intersubjective

relationships over economic progress? Defend your answer.
I think we can make a better world when we prioritize intersubjective
relationships over economic progress because having a positive
intersubjective relationship with one another can definitely support the
improvement of interpersonal relationships. Good relationships will help
each other achieve their goals and will help in the development of our daily
lives, including our economy. Prioritizing our intersubjective relationships
with one another can result in effective communication. As a result, we will
be able to understand each other's thoughts and develop a great result.
MODULE 2 - INTERSUBJECTIVITY
TASK 3

What I Can Do

In our present society, we can notice all kinds of differences of people in

the world that may result to inequality, injustice, and all sorts of abuses. In order
to create a better world, we have to be sensitive about these things and respond
in kind manner. Below are societal problems which need solutions from
intersubjective point of view. Understand each statement and give concrete
solutions. Use the ideas on intersubjectivity elaborated by the philosophers we
discussed. 3-5 sentences are enough.

1. Instead of showing mercy, many people make fun of persons with disabilities.
Many people are being bad to those people with disabilities. They
should know the cons of having a disability. We need to report those
people to make them know and realize their bad doings.

2. Regarding rape issue, women are blamed because of the type of clothes they
wear.
Rape is rape, regardless of the accused's defense. The obligation of
"avoiding sexual violence" is shifted to the victims. It is an unacceptable,
illogical, and ineffective anti-sexual abuse suggestion, because incidents
have demonstrated that rape and other forms of sexual assault can occur
even when someone is fully clothed or wearing a shirt and pants or a long
dress/skirt.

3. Many say that poor people are poor because of their mentality.
Poor people always think that the rich will always be rich and the poor
become poorer and it shows the laziness and immaturity of them. They
should move, take jobs, or build a business to have a life that they want.
We may learn and improve our thinking by surrounding ourselves with
people who have various points of view, reading books, watching movies
and videos, and never losing hope. Keep to yourself and don't allow your
bad life to weigh you down. Maintain an optimistic outlook in life to help
you rise beyond poverty.

4. Indigenous people have their own culture others do not understand but some
people make fun of them.
Our world is divided by its differences, and we can't pretend that
discrimination and discernment don't exist when, in fact, they do. They
have a poor understanding of how important culture is to indigenous
peoples and how to value it. They usually mock them and imitate their
actions, which is demeaning. We must learn to respect one another's
differences. We should make a program that will make them realize that
we should help and respect the culture of each other.

5. Nowadays, some people think that psychological problems are just excuses
people do to justify their weaknesses.
People don’t understand mental health. We have identified mental health
with descriptors of weak, bad, crazy, stupid etc. That’s not what mental health is
about, it’s about how your brain was formed, and how it works after being
formed. Parents should help their family member and their child when it comes to
mental health because psychological problems needs a support by their love
ones to feel their love and safety.
