1. Name some differences in moral behavior of different cultures. Evaluate the differences.

- In places captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan, the members of the group

forbid the women to work in school or business-related jobs in contrast to most
places where the government accept it.

- Another example is the legal practices of killing the newborn babies in ancient
China. Since they believe that women can't inherit and lead the family, the ruler
allows the families to kill their newborn female babies, which contradict to the
beliefs of most places nowadays wherein there are a punishment on doing it.

2. Why can’t all cultural practices be always correct?

- People judge the cultural practices based on their moral standard. They used what they
believe as a distinction to quantify those things. As a human being, not all of us have the
same moral standard since all of us were born differently. People on one place might
think that these practices are moral while people on other places might think it is
immoral. This shows that the correctness of cultural practices depends on the places in
which they belong. It totally explained the reason why cultural practices can't always be
correct.

3. Identify and analyze crucial qualities of the Filipino moral identity in our own moral
experiences. Evaluate elements that needed to be changed.

- Filipinos are known to have a lot of core values that are inherited on their ancestor.
As the inherited core values are remained intact and still honored to this day. It already
impacted the views of other races, onto what values Filipinos currently have.

- The crucial qualities, Filipinos are known for are the qualities of being hospitable,
respectful, and hardworking.

- Filipinos are hospitable people because they always welcome the foreigners or even their
fellow Filipinos to their house whenever they visit. Filipinos always make sure the visitors
to not leave with empty stomach, making them to have a great time in their house.

- Filipinos are respectful people for the reason that, you can observe the Filipino children
always respectful on elders. The children always use the words "po"

and "opo" when they are talking to the elders.

- Filipinos are known to be hardworking people. Like the Filipino farmer we known, they
are willing to work very hard just to earn a very little amount to compensate for their
work.

-However, Filipinos are also known to have "fatalism" and "crab mentality" qualities. In
which I think we need to change because those two traits hinder us to elevate our status.

4. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the Filipino moral character.

- Filipinos are always known to be a hospitable people, as they always make sure to
entertain their guest as their own family. This trait serves as their strength; however, this
also serves as their own weakness because this trait makes them gullible and easy to
manipulate. Like what happened before we are conquered by the Americans, as the
Americans helps the Filipinos in fighting the Spanish. America swindled them in thinking
that they are helping them, they don't know that the Americans have hidden agenda to
conquer them also. This shows that hospitable are also their weaknesses.

5. Identify universal values. Explain why universal values are necessary for human
survival.

- In Ethics, there are six (6) universal values humans should have and those six values
are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.

- Trustworthiness is essential for human survival because this quality helps people work
together, in which enhance the survivability of human beings.

- Respect helps people to work efficiently, which is advantageous for all humanity.

- Responsibility is the core values human should always do, as only through this the whole
humanity may work effectively.

- Fairness is also important as only through this, everyone should feel equal.

- Caring is a core values ingrained always in our heart as because, it is our nature to
helps others in need.

- Citizenship is also one of the important qualities a human being should have because
this quality dictates you if you're doing your role in society.

6. Write a short essay entitled “Relativism is self-defeating.

Relativism can change the true nature of a humans. As the humans naturally
adapt on his/her environment, people unconsciously change themselves for the betterment of
others. So, it means, relativism can make us loses ourselves because as a human being,
we unconsciously want to pleased others even if it means to harm ourselves. We like to
adjust our behavior just to fit in our surroundings, which prevent us to be true to ourselves.
Additionally, it wasn't helpful for us at all, there is no advantages on changing ourselves.
Instead, we are only harming ourselves.

7. Submit an essay which narrates your personal experience, analyzes how problem were
rooted in the Filipino and form hindsight, recommends how you would have done things
differently.

Filipinos are too trustworthy on others, as being hospitable are ingrained in their
soul. They are too easy to manipulate and take advantage to. Like what happened on
the era wherein we still hadn't been conquered by others, we easily trust the words of
Spanish adventures, we welcome them with open arms even though we don't know them
truly well. And what is the result? We were fool by them, we were controlled for almost
300 years just because of being hospitable to them. The consequence of our good nature is
the freedom we always have. We lost our freedom for a long time, that is why we shouldn't
let it happen again.

For me, we should lessen our hospitality on others. Remember, what I said was lessen
and not remove because hospitality also has a positive effect on us. What I meant to say
is that we should first know well the person we will treat because through only this, we
will avoid the bad consequence may happen. Let's be honest, only some people are deserving
of our hospitality, a lot of us always have bad intentions for others. Like me, even though
I also want the betterment of the life of other, sometimes I unconsciously unleashed my
demon mind, in which I want others life to be miserable. That is because, it is in our
nature to be selfish and not be satisfied on what we have. We have the mentality that,
if we don't have this something, we also don't want others to have it. For the following
said reason why, I said we have to lessen our hospitality.

8. Relate two (2) real or fictional scenarios highlighting:

a) Respect for human life, and

b) Truth-telling. Discuss the possible results of upholding or not upholding the two (2) values.

A. All of us are equal, that is the universal role I always follow. No matter what status
we have in life or how much money we earn, we are still all equal. Like what some
Anime depicted about, some fantasy genre anime emphasizes that no matter how powerful
you have become, don't misuse it to bully the weak. That is why, almost all main
characters in the anime always respect the weak even though they don't have to. Of
course, it wasn't without purpose. The people will admire and praise the main characters,
which for me is enough. That is also the reason why I like watching anime.

B. All of us always want the best for our loved ones, even if it means of telling them a
lie, like what some movies shown. Whenever the main characters have to choose between
the telling the hurtful truth or the white lie. They always choose telling the lie because
they always want their loved ones to be happy. Even me, if I were to choose between those
two, I will still choose the options wherein my loved ones will be happy. That is because, I
always want them to be happy. However, if we want the best for them, telling the truth
will always be the right answer because through only this will they be able to confront
their fear on it. If we always protect them from bad things, they will not be able to
overcome it. So, in short, telling the truth is the right answer all the time.
