1 Define Information Technology.

Information Technology is the use of the computer hardware and software
to store , retrieve and manipulate information
2 Give three (3) usages from the moment you wake up until you go back to sleep assuming that
it is a school day.

3 Give three (3) advantages of Information Technology.
____Advantage_of_Information Technology is users easily access of
Information , no physical boundary as people from all over the world could
gain acess to the same information and learning becomes more interesting and
effective.

4 Give three (3) disadvantages of Information Technology.

Disadvantages of Information Technology are expense of implementation
and maintenance , elimination of jobs and breaches in security

5 Discuss two (2) applications of Information Technology in each of the following fields:
(i) Education
E-learning refers to the use of computers and network to support learning
activities and provides learning materials

Education portal is a website that provides learning and training materials and

sources .

Telemedicine – The practise of medicine through the use of all forms
of data , visual and audio communication

Online banking – A system thet allows individuals to perform banking
activities sucs as bill payment and fund hansfers through the Internet.
Online investing – The process by which investors buy and sell securities
through the Internet.
(iv) Manufacturing
Computer – Aided Design (CAD) – A system that helps increase the
produvtivity pf the designer and improve the quality of design .
Computer –Aided Manufacturing (CAM) – CAM can speeds up production
and provide high accurary in large scale production
.

(v) Traveling
Car navigation system (GPS) – A system that is available in a vehicle or
in a mobile device that helps users to trace routes for specific location.
Electronic Toll Collection – A system that aims to eliminate the delay on
toll roads by collecting tolls electronically.
(vi) Government
E- Filing – Online system foe declaming tax.
HRMIS – Online system for updating government employers information.

Simulation – Scientist may use computers for simulation of complex

events.

to any device or system used to record the transaction for the retailer.
(RFID) - Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) is the use of radio waves to
read and capture information stored on a tag attached to an object.

Entertainment Music – Many website services allow users to purchase
individual tracks or albums directly to their computer

Entertainment Television and Movies – Many websites services offer free to
stream movies with the cost of a monthly subscription
fee .

It can improve the quality of human life because it can be used as a learning
and education media, the mass communication media in promoting and
campaigning practical and important issues, such as the health and social area.
It provides wider knowledge and can help in gaining and accessing
information.

finance, travels and government.

Being overly connected can cause psychological issues such as distraction,

narcissism, expectation of instant gratification, and even depression. Beside
affecting users' mental health, use of technology can also have negative
repercussions on physical health causing vision problems, hearing loss, and
neck strain
