What should I eat next?

I- OVERVIEW
Starting this year by doing something good for you is a healthy way of making a
routine that will last for a year and even for a longer time than that. What better way
than to start than with keeping yourself active. By starting the habit now you’ll start
noticing changes in your pace and how you handle your body which surely will help
you up on dances, sports and games.

At the end of the lesson/ activity students should have been able to:
1. continue weekly routine to stay physically active;
2. follow the instructions of each recipe in this module;
3. finish the food you prepare;
4. eat fruits and vegetables the different way;
5. spend time together with a friend or a family member by preparing the
meal together;
6. participate actively in class.

In Module 1, you will be able to answer the following key questions:

1. What is pinggang pinoy?


2. What should I eat every day?
3. Which one should I avoid eating?

last week with your family.

Lesson 1: What should I eat next?

ACTIVITY 1: WARM YOU UP

Objective:
To prepare you for physical activity using general exercises
To gradually make your body gain more stamina

PROCEDURE:

1. Find a suitable area for a physical activity(a space where you can lie down
and stretch your arms and feet without bumping an object).
2. Do the activities on the table below.
Remember:
• Drink your water only when you are done with all the activities.
• Practice staying standing up even when doing water break to maintain
the effects of the warm up.
• Finish everything and don’t go over the suggested number of times you
should do the activity

ACTIVITY 2: Salad in a Jar!


Objective:
Follow the instructions of the recipe
Finish the food you prepared

Materials:

1. 1 small jar
2. 2 kinds chopped vegetables (enough for 2 servings, please cook the vegetables
if needed. Suggested vegetables: lettuce, okra, carrots, eggplant, broccoli, etc.)
3. 2 kinds of chopped fruits (enough for 2 servings, suggested fruits: grapes,
strawberry, tomato, cucumber)
4. 1 salad dressing (please pick out the dressing you like)
5. sterilized pair of scissors (for cutting meat and some vegetables)
6. cooked meat preferably chicken or ham that are precut thinly

PROCEDURE:

1. Spread the materials on your table neatly.


2. Using the scissors, cut the ingredients into small bits.
3. Slowly stack the ingredients inside the jar.
4. You can place it in the refrigerator eat it right away! Don’t forget to wash
your hands and use dressing for the best experience!

ACTIVITY 3: Egg
Objective:
Follow the instructions of the recipe
Finish the food you prepared

Materials:
1. 2 boiled egg
2. Small amount of mayonnaise
3. Citrus fruit (2 calamansi, half a lemon or quarter of an orange)
4. Salt
5. Pepper
6. Quarter of cucumber
7. Quarter of tomato
8. Half/quarter of a carrot
9. Spoon
10. Bread for making a sandwich

PROCEDURE:
1. Chop up 2 boiled eggs and mash them into a bowl.
2. Cut up small piece of cucumber, quarter piece of tomato, and half a carrot
3. Add two spoons of mayonnaise.
4. Add one squeeze of orange (or lemon or 2 calamansi)
5. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.
6. You can make now make a sandwich or follow this other step below for more
exciting look of your salad.

EXTRA STEPS:
Cut a hard-boiled egg in half then remove the yolk. Replace the insides with the salad
then copy the picture below.

Key Concepts
A growing body is like a plant with roots. They may grow but still they need proper
nutrients to grow healthy and tall. Choosing the food you eat is vital towards the
path of a healthy life. The problem on this is that arguably not everything healthy
tastes good. Being creative on how you eat your veggies is a good strategy on
eventually loving these leafy green friends and there’s nothing bad on that!

Look at the diagram 2 to help you with how you prepare your daily meals.

II- Enrichment

What other ways do you eat your vegetables and fruits? Take a picture of
your daily meal and share it to the class!

III- Assessment

1. Completion of task – Ability to finish your task on time.

2. Enthusiasm- Involvement in the emotion or mood to the activity. Facial


expressions and body language are always used to generate a strong
interest and enthusiasm. Demonstrates enthusiasm by showing energy in
movements and giving their best Overall attitude and confidence towards
the dance.

3. Participation and Safety / Behavior – Participates in the activity with few


prompts given by the instructor.

4. Following of Instructions – Ability to follow each instruction with few to


zero prompts from the instructor.
