Evidence: The tennis tournament

Imagine you are arranging a trip to nearby city for a tennis tournament next
Saturday. You want your best friend to go with you, but, she/he has a very busy
schedule and needs to return by Sunday.

For this evidence, you will need to complete three parts. For the first part (A),
you need to have a look of the information about the tournament. For part B,
you have to plan a schedule for the day and write it down. Finally, for part C,
you will write an email to your friend persuading her/him to come with you.

Let’s begin!

Part A

Have a look of the Colombia International Tennis Open official website. Then,
read the order of play, which is the official schedule for games that has been
released by the tournament officials.

For next Saturday we have attended the Colombian International Tennis Open,
which will take place in Bogota in the afternoon in the company of my friend
Cristian.

Part B

For this part of the evidence, you need to write a schedule for the day in which
you consider the following aspects.

 Commuting: You live in a different city. Consider the transportation means

you will be using for getting to Bogota and register the time you will be
arriving. The same instruction applies for considering your return to your
home city / town.

 Transportation: Consider the time you will be moving from the train station,
bus station, or airport, to the Salitre Tennis Center. The same instruction
applies your return to the place from which you are departing (airport, train
station, etc.).

 Food: Consider the times of the day in which you will be having breakfast,
lunch and dinner. (You can also include some time for snacks in between
games if you wish so).

 Games: Based on the order of play and your personal interests, decide
which games you will be attending and include those in your schedule.

 Accommodation (optional): This applies only if you have considered

staying in Bogota and arriving to you home town or city on early Sunday
morning.

Now, write your schedule. One example has been done for you.

4:00 a.m. I will leave the house via the airport
5:00 a.m. Arrive at the airport.
6:00 a.m. The flight left.
6:45 a.m. Arrival in Bogota, my destination city.
Transportation:
It travels an average of an hour and fifteen minutes
8:00 a.m. by taxi arriving at the tennis center saltpeter, where
the tennis event will take place.
Food:
When we get to the airport, we will have breakfast
Between 7:00 a.m. to
and we will have to buy food to take away, when
1:00 p.m.
the tournament is over, we will go to lunch.
Games:
We will have attended the tournament where the
10 a.m. Colombian gold duo Juan Esteban Cabal and
Robert Farah will have participated.
Accommodation
After the tournament we will have to stay where my
brother who will have had the grace to stay at his
7:00 p.m. house, in the morning we will have taken the flight
back home since my friend Cristian must be home
at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Part C

For this part of the evidence, you need to write an email to you best friend in
which you describe your plan in detail. Your idea is to persuade and convince
her/him to come and join you. Consider the following:

 You friend needs to be back home by 9:00 a.m., Sunday morning.

 Your friend is not a big fan of tennis, but you are, so, you need to include
interesting details about the players, the games and the tournament.
 Use the schedule to demonstrate how you will have done a lot of activities
during the day. For this purpose, you need to use the future perfect tense; for
example: By 5:00 a.m. we will have left home.

Now, write you email. Be as creative as possible.

a. Dear Cristian, on Saturday I will have to travel to Bogota to a tennis
tournament where the Colombian gold duo Juan Esteban Cabal and
Robert Farah will participate, who will have to defend their title and we
will have returned on Sunday morning since I will have to take care of my
grandchildren.
b. You will know that I am a number one tennis fan and as I will be a little
delicate in health, I will have to ask you to try and accompany me.
c. We will have to leave on Saturday at 5 am and we will have returned on
Sunday at 9 am. The tournament would have been at 10 a.m.
