Losing weight obviously is not as easy as ABC.

You need to ensure yourself to be

disciplined and follow all the rules without fail in order to get the best results. Eat with a right
potion, and exercise regularly is the normal things to do. To be honest, I have been in this
kind of situation before. Yes, I swear! I gained so much weight in my last year of being a
high school student.

All of this started to happen right after the Teacher’s Day ceremony at my school. I
have been given the full responsibility to handle this ceremony together with my batchmate.
It is undeniable that planning a programme needs many efforts and good teamwork from one
another. Notwithstanding all the obstacles, Alhamdulillah, we did it well. Everything went so
smooth on that day and the teachers were so happy too. I slept early that night as I felt really
tired and exhausted. My energy’s tank was drained enough. Haha.

I woke up in the morning to perform my Subuh prayer. However, right after my feet
reached the floor to go to the toilet, I can feel that my feet were so painful. I couldn’t even
walk properly. I tried to stabilize myself just to walk however, I even fall a lot. Months
passed, my health condition was still same and even getting worse. I have fever almost every
night. My leg swelled until I can’t bear to stay standing for a long time. All the symptoms
also don’t even show any sign to recover in a short period of time. At first, I was reluctant to
tell my parents about my health condition. However, SPM Examination is just around the
corner. I don’t want this pain to distract my focus from the most important examination
which will affect my results.

Therefore, on one fine evening, I called my parents and told them everything. They
immediately came to my hostel and brought me to the clinic. At the clinic, the doctor said
that I just had a fever only which was normal. However, my parents were not satisfied with
the result. On the next day, they brought me to the Medical Centre Specialist in Johor Baharu.
After doing blood and urine test, the doctor confirmed that I have SLE based on all the
symptoms. I have been given some medicine to reduce my swollen leg. The doctor informed
me that those medicines maybe would increase hunger as one of the side effects.

After a few days, I went to school as usual. Alhamdulillah, I was getting better than
before. However, what the doctor said about that medicine would increase my hunger was
absolutely true. I could not help myself from eating a lot throughout that period which leads
to drastic increased of my weight from 48kg to 67kg. Can you imagine that I gained
approximately 19kg for just 2 months? And for sure, I have a very low self-esteem ever in
my life during that time.

After the SPM Examination end, I decided to lose some of my weight. I started to
look for information and doing some research on the internet. I follow all the rules and step
that I found on the internet. I skip eating carbohydrate. I drink a lot of mineral water and
exercise regularly. However, a month passed but my weight was just same. There was no any
improvement on it. I started to give up.

Every month, I will do a medical check-up with my doctor. And he said that I need to
lose some of my weight because my BMI was overweight. I told him, that I have tried a lot to
lose my weight by following all the tips that I learn on the internet but it always ends up
failed. He said that I was following the wrong ways to lose weight and gives me some tips on
how to lose weight healthily. According to the doctor, I must not leave behind to take the
carbohydrate. I should put it in my diet in a small portion. He also advised me to do a
workout at least 30 minutes before cardio for the next 30 minutes since it helps to burn body
fat and get a lean muscle.

Alhamdulillah, after a few months working on it, I pass with flying colours to lose my
weight. I lost nearly 14 kg and my weight now is 53kg. I am really happy and so confident
with myself. What I have learned throughout my journey to lose weight is that I should not
cites something from sources that untrustworthy or not having authority such as the Internet
since everyone without any credibility can write it. I should consult the doctor first before
believing in something regarding health. (Inappropriate Appeal to Authority)
