the improvement of urban and rural living.

Furthermore, urbanization lead to the

increasing demand for public transportation and private vehicles which resulted to foot

and vehicular congestion.

As a solution, few modes of transportation have been established and improved

which have been found effective and ineffective. As an example, the Deparment of

Transportation introduced a land-port called Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange

(PITX), a multi-modal terminal in Southwest Metro Manila. The PITX offers a safe,

convenient and state of the art terminal for passengers, not only will it improve and

cater to the needs of the passengers experience but also address the traffic congestion

by limiting the provincial buses in traveling along the major roads and boulevards of

Manila and organizing the number of vehicles being dispatch in the area.

Another solution that was recently introduced is the “water jeepneys” between

the Cavite City Port Terminal and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Bay

terminal in Pasay City. It is a small ferry transportation terminal with two 27-passenger

vessels going to Cavite back to Manila and vice-versa, and other fast ferries that travel

from different parts of Luzon which converts three to four hours of land travel to minutes

of sea travel.

The project will focus more on the Expansion and Redevelopment of the Cultural

Center of the Philippines (CCP) Bay terminal as a multipurpose terminal which would
cater the needs of a greater number of passengers while improving their experience in

a safe, comfortable, and functional structure that is aesthetically pleasing using the

Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) as reference and worthy example.
