Joystick Operation
The navigator commands the ship via
the radar screen
■ Use the 2-axis joystick
■ Move it to port or starboard to set
a new heading or course
■ Move it fore or aft to increase or
decrease the turning radius
Time is Money
The SPEEDPILOT option controls the
ship´s speed for punctual arrival.
Just add the desired arrival time to a
waypoint. You may also enter a speed
profile with different settings for
individual legs of the track, or simply
command to sail a constant speed or
constant rpm by numerical input
Information is Value
NACOS includes a central nautical
information management system: Each
NACOS workstation provides the same Radar display with interactive on screen operation
information concerning the actual
voyage, manoeuvring data and environ-
mental conditions.
...into Integration
Alarm Management is Vital
NACOS alarms and messages are con-
stantly managed for all radar, conning,
and chart workstations. In association
with our automation experts, we also
offer a complete Bridge and Watch
Alarm System BAS/WAS with clear
text message display and acknowledge-
ment functions at any conning or
ECDIS workstation.
Automatic Identification
System
Like all other sensors, AIS is integrated
deeply into NACOS. The information is
provided throughout the system via
LAN to all NACOS navigation displays
of the NACOS. These are all type
approved as a Minimum Keyboard
Display for the AIS 3400/3410.
The Network
NACOS employs two network techno-
logies: CAN real time loops (CAN =
Controller Area Network) are used for
communication of navigation data,
navigation control signals and to inter-
switch radars. An Ethernet LAN is
used for exchange of electronic charts,
ARPA target and AIS information as
well as navigation data between radar
and ECDIS systems and for integration
of the VDR.
■ Up to 5 RADARPILOT or MULTIPILOT
workstations can be interswitched
with up to 5 X-band or S-band
transceivers.
■ The steering and speed control can
be managed from any of up to 5
TRACKPILOT control panels. Each
display unit can be extended by up
to 4 slave displays including a fully
operable keyboard.
■ Nautical sensors or subsystems can
be connected to the easily
expandable Cable Connection Unit.
■ With two Cable Connection Units
and two optional extensions, all inter-
face and redundancy requirements
can be fulfilled.
■ The NACOS network technology,
combined with a strict policy of
equipment, software compatibility
and documentation throughout all
system versions, ensures modularity
and up-gradability from stand-alone
radar to high-end INS and IBS con-
figurations. Chart display with path prediction
